Hello fellow Scion owners!

It is my great pleasure to invite you to the ScinergyIA/Wilson Scion All Scion Show 3.0 to be held May 5th, 6th, and 7th here in Ames, IA!

This will be the first ever NATIONWIDE meeting of Scion owners open to EVERYONE! Truly this will be an historical event.

My name is Alex Millen and I will be the primary organizer of this event. I am a Scion owner, Scion salesman, Scion parts guy, and a proud member of ScinergyIA, Iowa’s first Scion Owners’ Club. I have had great fun hosting the first two shows here at the dealership this past year and would like to amp things up for this year. To do that, I need your participation.

I am not going to put a huge hook on this show because I don’t have those kinds of resources and I don’t think that it will be required. This, like every other event I have planned for Scions, will be an event FROM Scion owners FOR Scion owners. What I can promise is a great time, great people, great Scions, and a little piece of history.

Here’s what we will be doing. As mentioned before, this will be a three day event. We will start things on Friday, May 5th 2006 at Old Chicago Restaurant here in Ames. Starting at 6:00pm, Scions will roll in, take their place in the parking lot, and join us inside for a classic meet and greet to build friendships, finally meet face-to-face, and fuel those classic rivalries that make our shows exciting and worthwhile. To get the juices flowing we will award the “Night Rider” trophy to the Scion with the best night time display at 10:00pm (or so). You will NOT want to miss out on this prestigious award!

The following morning will start the main event of the meet, the All Scion Show 3.0 on the Wilson lot. This will be our third (and by far our biggest) Scion only show at Wilson’s. The entire lot will be handed over to our Scions for the day so that we may conduct our car show, play some music, and have some fun. This will be a judged show with trophies and prizes. Categories will include best xA, xB, and tC as well as Best Rims, Best ICE, Best Presentation, and Best of Show. There will be other highly prestigious awards as well from Fujiz.com and my personal favorite, Grizzly’s Choice. The winner of Best of Show WILL take home the tallest car show trophy ever (this will be certified by Guinness). Judging will begin at noon and trophy presentation will begin at 4pm. After the awards are all out we will give everyone a short break before putting together the biggest Scion caravan ever on a scenic drive down to Des Moines where those who like can join in the Scinergy Family Dinner! All others are welcome to explore the “Des Moines Night Life” (it’s more fun than you think!) and generally have fun in Central Iowa on a Saturday night.

Those who are so inclined will be welcome to join us on Sunday for “Brunch and Lies” at Olde Main Brewery in Ames before our tearful good-byes.

So, why should you slog all the way out to Central Iowa in early May? To meet your old friends, to make new friends, to show your love of Scion, to show the strength and solidarity of your club, to have your shot at the tallest car show trophy EVER, to brag that you showed at the first open NATIONWIDE Scion car show, and to be part of Scion history. All Scions will be welcome at the meet from stock to mild to wild to freakin’ nuts.

Many more details will be announced as the show draws closer. This is primarily a notice so that you have 6 full months to plan your trips!

Please remember to ask for the time off early if you need to and start saving up a few bucks too so that everything is smooth sailing when the time comes! The last-minute drop out is our biggest hurdle so make plans early and lock 'em in!

It's a little over 200 miles. There are a few hotels, but I would recommend getting a reservation early. Ames usually fills up their hotels pretty quick.

Yes, we will have some blocks of rooms in various hotels reserved for the show all within 2 miles of the dealership. I'm currently working on getting us a group rate.

I'll be posting details on this soon. I'm also creating a dedicated website for the show that will have all of the pertinent information including maps.

They've been upgrading the casinos in CB over the last year I think. Still pretty freakin' smoky from the blue hairs playing slots!

I haven't hit that steakhouse yet. I'll have to ask our accountant about it. He's from Altoona (mullet capital of Iowa!).

Prarie Meadows (track in Altoona) was just granted license to have table games now and have gone through a major upgrade. Quite the booming place!

So...

Ames, Iowa is about 1800 miles away from Seattle. About 30 hours away according to google maps.

I guess I better start planning now. I'll add my name to the list a little later, once I know that I'll be able to make it out there. Sounds like it'll be a fun weekend.

Anyway, the drive will go Cornfield, cornfield, soy bean field, cornfield, cows, cows, cows, pig farm, cornfield, cornfield, ostrich farm, cornfield, cornfield, pig farm. I'm pretty proud of the route myself!

Actually, if everything works out like I want, we'll be driving through Ledges park, over Sailorville damn, through a couple of neat little towns, and down along the river into Des Moines. It won't be like last year's trip through Golden Gate Canyon, but it should be at least mildly scenic.

We'd love to have you down from Washington BCS! The show will be a great time and the company will be the real treat.

I think that I will upgrade the air-conditioning filter to a HEPA filter for the cow/pig
leg of the drive, I've heard stories about them. Also, Could you add a Farmer to the
drive? I've never seen a farmer in real life before. And what about water fowl? you
can't leave those off the list. Is it true that you can get a ticket for driving without
a John Deer hat?

Technically, this is NOT true. The law reads that you must be wearing "farm-related headgear". This would mean ANY equipment hat (Deere is preferred, but Case, International, and others are tolerated) OR a seed company hat (such as Pioneer, Garst, etc.). Abiding by these rules will certainly ease your trip through the midwest. :rofl:

Rooms have been reserved. I got 10 double occupancy rooms at a good place just down the street from the dealership (figure about a mile away, but on the same street) called the University Inn. Those 10 rooms are reserved for both Friday and Saturday nights and are $95 per room per night. All rooms are non-smoking. In addition, I have reserved 4 Mini-Suites for Friday night at the Gandstay Residential Suites. That place is actually attached to Old Chicago (where we will be meeting on Friday night). Those rooms are $150 each. Two are smoking. They are booked for the Saturday, but I am first on the waiting list if any become available.

Please note that May 6th (Saturday) is Iowa State University's graduation weekend and hotels in the immediate area have mostly filled up already. This is why I have reserved rooms.

If you want a room, please contact me VIA EMAIL ASAP. I'm posting this up all over the place and won't be able to check PMs on every site. If these are assigned quickly, I'll try to get more rooms. They're all reserved on my personal credit card under my name and I'll be keeping a list of who has dibs on what.

I'll put up a few people in and around my house too, but I only have one tiny bathroom and one tiny water heater. I also have only one wife. Putting lots and lots of stress on any of these things by having 20-30 people staying with me would probably cost me dearly if you catch my drift. I'll do what I can, but if you can afford to do a room, that would be very cool.

Scott, staying in Des Moines or Ankenny (which is just to the North of Des Moines) would be a very good idea. Ankenny is about a 20 minute drive from the hotels to the dealership and Des Moines is about 35 minutes.

I reserved the extra rooms on Friday night in Ames because I know we will be having fun here in town and I don't want anybody to get slapped with an OWI on a trip back to Des Moines. In addition, we'll be starting pretty early on Saturday here in Ames however, Saturday's activities will end down in Des Moines, so I would expect several folks to stay down there so they can again avoid the drive. I'll hook something up in that vein next week.

I'm inviting the KC region guys (the show is on a Saturday and basically I'm asking them to work on their day off so it's their choice to show and I would never hold it against them if they don't come), but nobody from California or anything like that. Maybe I'll send out an invite to those guys too, but I really wouldn't expect them.

BTW for the people leaving from Kansas City to Ames Iowa it's 3 hours and 53 minutes, Sprinfield MO it's 6hours and 35 minutes, Tulsa it's 7 hours and 59 minutes, and if your driving from anywhere else I'm guessing it's going to be a long freakin drive.

Glad to have you aboard Stephanie! Be sure to talk Stargate with Matt (aka "Fishpounder") when you get here.

Anyway, Mapquest is always a bit conservative with it's estimates on time. I generally do KC in 3 hours 20 minutes and I think I did Springfield in 6 hours flat or just a bit less. It was much less when we came back though, just ask Fredy, Dan, and Bob!! Those tC guys are crazy.

Just to let you know i am glad that so far we have 40 members that will join the show, and is not even february yet :)

Chicago to Ames can be done in about 4 to 4.5 hours depending on how fast you drive. I've heard of people doing it in 3, but I wouldn't recommend it!

Lists like this are wierd sometimes as people just cut and paste and sometimes skip a post or something. I'm using it as a general guideline to see how many can come rather than an absolute roll call. There are many members of Scion Evolution that aren't on the list yet anyway. It's cool.

Greg, okay, I know using I-80 all the way to Chicago saves some time, but you're proabably right. I haven't done the drive yet, but I did Aurora in about 5 or 5.5 hours last year so I was kind of basing it on that and hearsay. Oh well!

Well, let's leak a little something about the show...

I'm NOT getting a DJ for the meet. Well, actually, I might be, but that's a different secret and I'm not ready for it yet. Instead, we will be using every vehicle on the premesis as our sound system!

That's right, we will have our own RADIO STATION for the duration of the show. Our good friends at 88.5 FM KURE have agreed to do a special show during our deal on the Wilson lot just for us! The DJ will take our requests only and will spin live on the air as well! They will also do all necessary announcements on the air for our show.

C'mon now, who has that??!!!

Everybody will be able to play the same COMMERCIAL FREE station on their own bumpin' systems throughout the WHOLE SHOW!!

Not sure if this has been posted yet but, the Oklahoma crew is leaving Tulsa at 7 AM on the 5th so we can be in KC by noon to meet the KC crew at the Kansas Speedway.

And anyone who is coming from further south (like OKC) is more than welcome to come to my house on the 4th and stay the night so they can leave with us on the 5th.

Since Jon is staying in Des Moines, I now have a few rooms open in Ames for Friday and Saturday night.

Greg has first dibs on one of them, but I should have 2 more open.

These rooms are doubles at the University Inn literally down the street from the dealership. They are $95 per night and I have them reserved with my credit card.

I have this info posted in LOTS of places so please email and don't PM me about these rooms to garuntee that I see your message.

I'm on the list for more rooms, but probably won't find out for a while if one becomes available.

If you are still looking for a room, check out the Holiday Inn Downtown in Des Moines. Several members of ScinergyKC and Scikotics are staying there. We will be finishing our Saturday night in Des Moines anyway and will be fairly close to that hotel. Another option is to stay in any of the Ankeny, IA hotels. Ankeny is only about 20 minutes from Ames and 10 or 15 minutes from Des Moines. Most of their hotels are located directly on I-35 so it's not out of the way.

Your final option is to stay in one of the 4 suites I have reserved at the Grandstay Inn about 2 blocks from the dealership. I only have these for Friday night and they are $150 for that night. If you want one, email me.

This is being taken care of here with the locals. I don't anticipate that EVERYONE will join us on the cruise, but there will still be lots.

Many photos WILL be taken!

The show will be fun, but the cruise will be the highlight.

Forget a police escort...we should get the military to back us. Having Scions cruising through town lead by tanks and having Apache's hovering above us and F-16's and F-18's offering air support. Talk about a good photo opportunity.

for anybody who doesn't have a hotel yet, or who wants to camp there is a pretty nice campground called Hickory Grove Park about 20 minutes from Ames modern facilities available, its where the wife and kids and I will be staying Friday and Sat night. Its a county park so they don't take reservations, but the first weekend in May, whos worried? Modern campsite $15 per night, primitive sites on other side of lake $7 per night...
