Default 30.5 mpg w/5-speed

i thought that was rather interesting, getting 1.5 mpg better than the advertised 29 mpg hwy. i had to drive up to LA and back to SD this past weekend. i filled up that morning, drove 310 miles up the 5, off the 57 to my uncles house, 91 to 405 up to UCLA, then back down the 405 to the 5 and back. of the whole trip, i sat in nearly 40 minutes of traffic, and cruised the rest of the way at about 75 mph. with the traffic and decently high speeds, i wasnt expecting that, but cool!

i filled up this morning with 10.15 gallons, so that means 310/10.15 = 30.54 mpg.

neat.

This is a FINE EXAMPLE of a car getting the advertised OR BETTER MPG that 3/4 of the people on here say can't be done! And you sat for 40 minutes! Thats great. I know you didn't buy the car for fuel economy, but at least you are getting what is advertised!

most i ever got was 27 mpg on a 300 mile trip, the first 50 or so went smooth at about 70 mph. then the next 50 miles in fing traffic. then the rest was at or above 80 with 1 rest stop. it was like 175 miles one way. and filled up on the way back.

i just fill it to the click; every time. so as i see it, it doesnt matter which i do, as long as i am consistant in what i do.

another interesting point; at 310 miles, i was just a hair above the 3/4 tank mark.

I fill it up till it clicks, then get in the car and write down the mileage. The best I have ever attained is 27ish. Gratz on the 30+.

Something to note about pure highway driving.

We all know that cruising faster = more fuel consumption. I had the ability to see an extreme case of this on the way to and from Atlanta for the SEC championship... (about an 8 hour drive, 532 miles).

Setting the cruise control at 75... resulted in 31.xx MPG.
Setting the cruise control at 88... resulted in 26.xx mpg. (tach right around 4,000 rpm)

So 2 points to be made.
- If you gonna cruise for long distance, stick at 75.
- If you're gonna go through alabama's long, quiet, desolate, dark roads... get ready to go 90 and deal with lower MPGs.

my tC is killer on the mileage. my first tank was 304 on 12.5 gallons which equates to 24.32 mpg. and, it was ALL city miles except one 10 minute drive on our truck bypass opening it up a lil. my second tank...welll, i dunno yet. haven't quite filled it up again.

I take 600 mile trips up to ND every month or so....

Best milage on one was 33.1 mpg...but there was a tail wind helping out on that one.

I also stick it at 75 and leave it...speed limit is 70, so 5 over = happiness.

On a completely different note, went up there for Thanksgiving, into a 40 MPH wind...I got barely 20MPG.

SUCKED.

Thats awsome, when I went from H-Town to Tyler and got 29.5 and I had to go slow through certain areas. But when cruising I was going anywhere from 80-85.

I normally get about 25 MPG mixed city/hwy. I went up to NY for Turkey Day and got 29.7 MPG averaging about 80 MPH on the hwy.

I drove from Vermont down to DC and back for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. I averaged 30.5mpg driving down, and also the first half of the way back. I stopped off in northern NJ to get gas, and from there back home I averaged almost 32mpg.

This was with the cruise control set at 75 when I could use it, and otherwise driving fairly aggressively in heavy but fast-moving traffic.

Even when I fill up before I head back home, 3 hour drive ~230 miles, I never get better then 28MPG.

Cruise at 75MPH as much as possible...however stupid Pennsylvania mountains make my mileage = suck.

i got 29.4-29.6 miles per gallon

but for the past days snow fall and i think i am getting less miles per gallon just because u need to add more gas to make the car go over slippery surfaces..

Try cruising at 65 for 340 miles you'll still have gas left lol
