Are you talkin about the black Grillcraft grille? All that person did was buy a TRD emblem and mount it on the grill(prolly by glueing it) Here's my Grillcraft 3-piece grille! I love it and recomend it to anyone. I got mine on sale awhile back from NAMS!

Glad you bought that TRD Emblem it's totally rare now. I been trying to get another one for myself, since mine was stolen by some idiot in Scion Night II.

i noticed that the grillcraft sticks out because it is installed over the stock grill, i was wondering if u could install it differently so that the grill "sets in". Like the grill would be inset into the area more, like the stock grill sits farther into it. In my opinion the grillcraft looks very good quality, but id like it better if it set in more. What dou guys think?

My grillcraft grills aren't installed over the stock grill. So I don't think it would really be able to "set in" any further. The size of the grill itself prevents you from pushing it any futher in. sorry

but yea, it was made to fit over the stock grille, so installing it on its own, its gonna stick out a little with the way you have to attach it to the bumper. but honestly you get passed it, I know I did.

but if you did a custom harnes or whatever im sure you could adjust it to your liking.

and the stock covers for the holes in front of the tire have the same pattern as these. I didn't like how far out the grillecraft ones stick out there so I left them off.

I just re-did my top grille. It was originally black but I didn't like it too much so it's silver now.

Are those grilleguy grilles made from cheap materials? I read the guy's feedback and heard they're strictly inserts and can't be tampered to make them replacements. How were yours? I wouldn't mind buying grille guy grills over gillcrafts if they're all the same stuff. grilleguy=100 shipped. gillcraft=150 shipped. Also, are yours the stilletos?

hell yeah man.. good stuff. i'm probably buying this from that guy off eBay this week, how hard was the install? i looked at the instructions and you have to drill some small holes inside the bumper grill area or something. did you have a tough time with it or was it fairly straightforward?

It's an easy install. Nothing that will drive you crazy.

Yo Wazup Toupy! I was wondering if you ever got that installed. :P Did the vid help you out? I tried to make it as informative as possible without overdoing it. It looks really good on the car, are you happy with it? Hell, it looks "Almost" better than mine... :P

Ps...did you paint your OEM Chrome ring, or did you not use it at all? I can't tell from the pic if it's there or just painted.

If you are up to it, Remove all the screws that you see from the backside of it. After all the screws have been removed, the Chrome Ring is held in place by clips. Be sure to hold the clip out once you get two or three off, cause as you start to go down the line, they have a tendency to slide back into place. After you have removed it, then you are good to go, and can just follow the vid that I sent you.

But that's cool that you get noticed now. How many times a day to you get asked what does "TOUPY" mean? lol...

Whenever the paint chips from road debri, I just take a cutip and dab it into the black paint, and dab it onto the trouble spots. Not very hard maintenance at all.

It is stock...from the looks of it all he did was remove the Scion logo. I am going to try this tomorrow, because I got the same setup as his with foglights. Plus I like the fact that the grille is set in and not sticking out.

In regards to the grill posted above, here is what badseed305 wrote to me:

i put on the oem fog, so i used the original bottom grill. put it in the oven for a few minutes, then mold it the way u want it and stick in on, then secure it whichever way possible.

semaJames, you were right..my idea of removing the whole emblem was wrong, unless you want a hole in the middle of your grill.

Yes I'll try it out. I just called and the dealership wants $80 for the lower piece, but on ebay it starts as low as $20 brand new. I'll see what happens when I get it and post step by step instructions for anyone who might want them.

Here's the link to the DIY badgeless grill mod. I didn't really do it his way. But basically I bought a bottom grill for $20 shipped, cut holes in the bottom of it for the chrome trim piece's snaps and put it back in. It took a little time sos not to scratch it up. I figured that would look better than cutting it to fit inside the chrome piece, that way you don't see the edges. A very easy mod for a firstimer like me tho.

^That's the grill off ebay. It's about the closest one I've seen to the RS1. Yes there's a little drilling but nothing big.

amazing eye. yeah they are unknowns. shhh dont tell anybody. i love them but the metal is a little soft on the lip and theirfor they scratch easier than i would like but still i love the wheels. they get alot of compliments.

yeah its the ebay grill. talk about excellent customer service. these people were the very best. they sent out second set of grills b4 the first one was even returned to them when i merely told them that the address tracking had the first set sent back. they even overnighted the second set!!! just so i could have them b4 a certain event. wonderful people and a excellent quality product. the drilling is extremely minimal and if u were to put the old grill back in they the holes would still remain unseen.

I've been looking at these for awhile and unsure if I want them but they look sweet on the tC. I spend a lot of time looking at potential parts for the tC and these are very different or were, there's a few rims out there now that look like they were inspired by the unknowns.

Grillecraft is expensive as hell man!! I mean to get the upper and lower grilles combined(since it will look funny only having top grille) it will cost about a wopping $340! I like the look but jeez...very pricey for just a grille. Can anyone tell me where i can get similar as grillecraft mesh grill for cheaper???

Check mine out. DIY gutterguard grille. Not as great as the Grillecraft but cost me a total of $3 but I had most of the tools.

Check out FigureLLC on eBay, I like their grilles better than Grillecraft. IMHO, paying over $150 for a grille is ridiculous. You can get S-Techs and a Progress rear sway bar for $340!! and they serve a purpose! What does the $340 Grillecraft do? Make the car look better, anything else? Nope.

On the upside, buying a more expensive grill helps to keep you car more unique, and far as serving a purpose, lookin good seems like a pretty good purpose to me! But to each his own....

I'm a DIY guy so I made my own, I've gotten great compliments and I've been asked to make 3 sets for others. I didn't even ask them to pay me. They paid for the parts, I did the labor, they handed me a $30. I was satisfied.

Yeah phungy it looks pretty good. You should figure a way to make it into a 4 piece. That would be the hotness!

Here's mine I had almost a year ago. I was just test fitting the top and never went through with the install but it will give you an idea. It's ok but I ended up painting it black and just sold it.

I have decided on the black Figure LLC grill. On a silver tC, would you recommend it in flat black or gloss black? I don't want to get the gloss and have it be super shiny and tacky.

I'm not sure if its tacky. I've never seen it before. I just didnt want to get it and have it be too shiny to the point where it looks bad. If you have the glossy one now, would you recommend the flat or glossy?

I just got the Gloss Black LLC grille for my SW and it looks sweet. It will look good on the silver as well

If you only send me the chrome piece without the bottom grille, then I charge $80 because I would have to get a bottom grill for you. (bottom grill costs $50 shipped to me brand new)

Once sent to you, everything will come set for you to install...and everything is basic...I will even include instructions with the grill. This will be my version 3.0 of this grill and it will be easier to install on your car. No drilling involved.
