OSAKA (Kyodo) Daihatsu Motor Co., which plans to start making the Be Go sport utility compact early next year, will ship some of its output to parent firm Toyota Motor Corp., sources said Wednesday.
Toyota aims to consolidate production of smaller vehicles at Daihatsu and step up collaboration with the automaker in other areas, including new car development, the sources said.
Daihatsu Auto Body Co., a subsidiary, will make 40,000 Be Go SUVs a year, but Toyota will sell them under a different name.

When the Be-Go appeared at Frankfurt, it was called the D-Compact 4x4. For Tokyo, it gets a new name but is essentially the same next-generation, lightweight, baby soft-road SUV with a newly developed 1.5-liter engine and full-time 4WD, but with body dimensions that are fractionally smaller. On track to replace the Terios in Japan, the Be-go seats five and is ready for production.

That's where you insert the fuel pump....J/K. That's actually the fender mirror, it serves as a parking assistant when you're backing up or when changing lanes.

FYI, they've been doing that on JDM cars for decades, and they still do. It's on the Honda CR-V, and the RX300. However, it is something you only really see in asia. They havn't shipped a car with a fender mirror in almost 20 years, I think.
You also sometimes see roof mirrors on hatchbacks/SUV's/Minivans in Japan/Asia. It's like a mirror that hangs from the roof over the rear. It's used to look down so that you can park extremely close to people in extremely tight spots.
And yes, fender mirrors are ugly, but they also lack a blindspot.

I agree with djct_watt. Here's mine and it serves its purpose. I don't care what others say about my fender mirror. I paid for it and I like it.

Nope, the new RAV4 is CONSIDERABLY larger than the last two generations... it isn't the cute-ute it once was. This new mini-ute would slot in under the RAV4 perfectly.

Anyone else think that the front of that thing looks like a TC nose? Just sitting a little higher and beefier? And that the taillights look like they're from an xA?
