ive been wondering lately, when people ask me what in the world im drivin, i tell them a scion xb. when they ask who makes it, i say scion, and heres y. whenever u look up scion (nopi, autotrader, whatever) scion is its on make. when u go to a dealer, its usually EX: libery scion, toyota, lexus. or something like that. its parent company is toyota, but in the same sense the toyota is the parent company of lexus. i mean, when someone asks u what r u driving, u say a lexus, they dont ask u who makes it. u dont say toyota lexus sc300, so i dont say toyota scion xb. but on my insurance, its a toyota scion xb. i was just wondering how everyone else handles this cuz i KNOW u all get asked "what in the hell is that thing?" and "who makes it?"

People ask what it is. I say its a Scion xB. They give a funny look so I go on to say that Scion is a company of Toyota. That usually shuts them up but sometimes I say like Lexus is owned by Toyota or Mazda by Ford that Scion is made by Toyota. People will understand more when there is more of them.

That is how I explain it also...Like Acura is a Honda, a Scion is a Toyota...

When I say it's a Scion...People give me a confused look...so I now quickly follow with "it's Toyota the same way Lexus is Toyota" and then people are like oh I get it...
the worst was when I had to file my insurance claim the lady was like uh I need the make after I said Scion...we then proceded to have a 2 minute arguement over what the make was...

Believe it or not, Toyota is still confused about it. When somebody arranges financing at a Toyota dealership, we go into our secure intranet called Dealer Daily to enter the credit application. On the application, there is a question of what kind of car is being purchased. The Scion is listed as a Toyota model, rather than a different car line like Lexus.
This is going to take a bit of time to get people used to this. It'll shake out eventually.

That makes sense that it is considered a model of Toyota. I know when I bought mine it was financed through TMCC. That is where my payments slips are coming from.
