Ingalls Engine Torque Damper review (released today)
Hi all, Ingalls finally released their Engine Torque Damper (E.T.D.). They used 2 vehicles and here are the results:
Vehicle owner 1 (my self): on the first test I was not happy about it because it made alot of noise in my car. But I did like the performance aspect of it. I can feel better launch and I dont feel engine vibration at all on my steering wheel when I drive or idle. When I gun it, my car doesnt do wheel hop. It was either go or constant squeeling tire noise. None of those eeek eeek eek squeeling noise.. Its alike eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek. (understand? lol) Then they decided to put dynamat between the bracket and the strut tower and got really good result. They have reduced the noise tremendously. I only hear it on 1st and 2nd gear and not as loud. I hear it half way at 3rd gear. I hardly ever hear it on 4th or 5th gear.
Vehicle owner 2 (based on what ingalls told me): He liked the performance and it doesnt make any noise (without the dynamat). This is either because it really doesnt make noise or he is just not as picky as I am.
The kit will NOT come with dynamat. Ingalls does recommend to install it with dynamat. The kit will also work with your sway bar. If for some reason it doesnt, I am pretty sure the place where you buy it or Ingalls them self will work something out. If you have any questions, just pm me. NO DRILLING REQUIRED. I honestly do not know how much these kits will sell. I dont think it will be as high as the price they posted on their website.

To be honest, i didnt install it. But good question. Its all bolt on. The only special tool you need is the what do you call that.. the extender for your rachet. Most tool set comes with it but just having 2 pliers wont do it. Autoparts store will have them for you to borrow if you dont have them. just take your car and the kit there and borrow their tool.

no more than 30 minutes if you have all the tools. When they test it on mine, they put it on in 10 minutes (they've done it alot). It will take you longer if you have strut sway bar. You need to take off the engine cover to make the installation alot easier.

they were saying all along that it will be so much better than the weapon r yet it looks the same. the just changed the the brackets a little so a strut bar would fit. I like the weapon r, there is def no reason to get that one.

The picture on their website and on mine dont do the justice of the quality. It has rubber ring material (forgot what the scientific word for the material is ) at the connection to reduce noise. Ill try to take a picture as close as possible of what I am talking about.

You can't judge a book by its cover!
Sure it may look the same, but that's because it's performing the same *function*.
Not 100 different ways to make an effecient damper in the tC. However, the *quaility8 of the Ingalls is what will really set it apart. Everything from the R&D to the brackets are top notch... and you mentioned it - being able to keep/add a strut bar is pretty important in my book.
Anyhow, if you guys give it a chance - Im sure you'll love it.
As for price, we have them available well south of the $200 terratory.
