Wow... for a grand more... you could have got a new one... maybe with a few less accesories... but there'd always be time to improve...

And, HECK YES, the dealer should front another key for you.... that's lame that they didn't... only cost them around 50 or so bucks cost for a new key and to program it for you wouldn't take long at all.

??
they really don't have to provide you with a second key, unless otherwise was said to be done as apart of the deal
if it was Toyota Certified, then yes...if it was not sold as that, no they do not have to provide second key for you
keys should be there next day, if order Mon-Thurs

The dealer doesn't HAVE to.... But, you should go and say they SHOULD....

I'd be surprised if they didn't do it for you

Wow, 15K for a 23K used tC ?? Oh well
You can get the extra key if u go to dealer, there is a little metal key tag come with the key with a number, just show that number and your title or some documents to show you have the ownership of the car, dealer should get you another key in no time.

Id go and atleast ask if they would get you another key especially if it was certified. I mean most newer used cars come with atleast 2 keys. Only used cars i know of or would expect to only have one is a used used car. Like my brother bought a used 98 neon a week ago as his first car for 1800 dollars, only came with one key. To me thats acceptable but not a 2005 they should atleast give you 1 extra. Just my .02

Holy Sheiza!! That's a lot of $$$ for a used tC! Mine must be a mint since it's from Oct. '04 and has only 8900 miles on it! Mine came with 3 keys-2 programmed, 1 valet. Shady dealer should have given you at least 2 keys. Take that crap back and tell them you at least need the valet key, shish. You should've waited and bought a brand spankin' new tC! I still can't get over that price for a USED tC??!!

Makes you wonder if he bought it for that price..what the original owner got for a trade in. I mean they couldnt have marked it up that much from the trade in amount. So he must have gotten below Blue Book on the trade in, either that or the dealer is taking a loss. Maybe it was in an accident and it was bought at an auction =op

Actually they can just use the VIN number.

My dad had his car at the dealership and the idiots locked the keys in the car somehow?

Anyways, they looked up the VIN and cut a new key...then proceeded to throw it away.

Wow only 10K for trade in that sucks!!! I did KBB on mine for trade in and I have an 05 with only 8,800 on it and mine is $16,225, guess it helps to keep low miles on your car

I've got the same situation as Smash-- an 05 w/about 35k. Trade in value is 13,505. However I see that used TCs are being retailed for above 18k--even though I have quite a few miles on it, would it be possible to talk a dealer up on the trade in?

I'm just wondering as I've been contemplating a used MR2 spyder or an mx-5 miata. Haven't decided yet, just feeling things out...
