Suspension advice requested
Yes yes another one of "those" posts. Anyways, come springtiem I'm going to upgrade the suspension, and I wanted to hook up my tC in a similiar fashion to the suspension I had on my 89 Probe GT. The Probe had Tokico blues with H&R springs, Addco poly swaybar endlinks, and an RSTB. And let me tell you, for a 16 year old car, it would've left the tC in the dust on the twisty stuff, that car handled like it was on rails. The drop in ride height was about an inch, and the ride was firm without being harsh. I want to go a similar route this time. I'm definitely not looking to slam the tC, just a nice drop that will provide a noticeable increase in handling without making the ride harsh. And remember, I live in New England, where potholes and frost heaves abound. I'm definitely going to do front and rear sway and strut bars as well, but I'm more concerned with struts and springs at this moment. I'm not really looking to autocross the car either; I just want the ability to rip around some turns without feeling like I was driving a bus. I had considered TRD struts and maybe springs, but I have heard that the majority people feel that puits the car where it should have been from the factory, not where I want to be. So any suggestions would be great, and I'll be happy to bomb around with anyone from Mass or CT who's car is lowered!

Full TRD setup sounds like waht you want...if you want more adjustability get coilovers.
ApexJr and I both have been able to push the TRD setup very hard and are more than happy with it. If you are doing more than street driving then get the Hotchkis sways...for street only they are a little overkill.

I went throught the same swaybar thoughts before I got mine:

hehe yeah i read that, you seem like you know your stuff. For now I am going to go with all trd setup since you say its goof for street and decent enough on auto x (never been tehre before) and I guess ill hope trd makes a front sway bar eventually if not if i get bored of the rear sway ill upgrade but if it proves to be good enough on the street corners then Ill def leave it. I am more after hp but Id like all that hp to be usefull on turns.
The Hotchkis may be better in the future, but for the money the TRD is great. Its nice to know you can always get the hotchkis sways later. If you get to a point where you feel like you need more than the TRD springs/shocks and hotchkis sways, and you already have good tires, then coilovers are the next step. Racing school is ny far the best thing to invest in if you want to make your car faster after the basic mods.
Ive had the hotchkis sway bars for a few months now...and like others, im frustrated. The intstall was a pain in the butt and I dont want to even remember it...now im dealing with the rubbing issues.
At first, I had them both set to the tightest they could go..but I experienced some "clunking" occasionally from the front...So, I set the front to the softest and left the rear the stiffest. It handles fine...but now, the bar occasionally shifts when I turn the wheel the whole way to the right...like, when im backing out of parking spaces...and it rubs and smacks that tire rod that sticks down (by the end link.)
When I get the money again...im thinking about taking the hotchkis off completely, putting the stock bar back on the front..getting the TRD for the rear and then adding front and rear struts..
then later on...coilovers

Coilovers are nice, but I don't think I'd spend the time to readjust them, I'm kind of lazy! The swaybars could be thorny, since I don't want to mix and match front and rear.
Help me out here guys I am New to Scion....but not to Import Tuning and AutoX (12+yrs working on Race Cars and 2yrs racing them). How bad is the understear under aggressive driving? If its heavy I would leave the front alone and get as big of a bar for the back as possible. If you want me to explain in detail I can just ask....
new shocks, s-techs will be a lot better for autox than trd or hotchkis.
both trd and hotchkis give off way too much body roll, while they do help with body roll, especially comparing to stock. but not enough to justify.
s-techs is the best spring for you guys out right now, otherwise i recommend df210s all the way.
i have virtually no body roll in the box in autox, i've been complimented several times with how firm the box is. my times also back it up.
