Hello Everyone, I have searchd this forums so many times about my question but couldn't find the exact answer, I know Scionvan tried some Work wheels 16x8 with 25et but in the pics more likely the rear can use lower offset, or M@ mentioned wider rims would be nicer so now, I wondering what would be the best offset for 16x9 wheel on all four corner, I have the options of 15 and 30, I thought to order the 30 and then use 5mm spacer in rear if it's needed, Do I need fender rolling ?? or should I order the 15? I know Ryan has 16x9 ET15, how do you like your setup ?? any help here is appreciated, Thanks Sean

if you go with the 16x9 et15 like brian you will need to roll your fenders if you drop anything over 2". also this setup will stick out in the front about 1/2" past fender. the back will stick out by <5mm.

Run the 15mm in back, and 30mm in front with a 5mm spacer. Stretch some tires over the wheels... (like 205/45-16s), roll your rear fenders, and camber the rears a bit, and you should be fine. Oh yeah, also don't forget to lower your car AT LEAST 2" to complete the look!!

Thanks for the info guys, Van what do you think about this if I order all four with ET30 and then run 10 or 15mm spacer, this way I can rotate my wheels ...would this work ?? Thanks Sean

I have couple of wheels in mind but will post a pic as soon as made up my damn mind about them, 205/45 tires sounds really small, it's like 2% smaller than 185/60 What do you guys think about 225/45 tires they are perfect match for stock size, and they are exactly same size as 215/35/18 but would they still be stretched on 9" rims ?? , need stretched tires for rear wheels for sure to be able to fit them !!! just make sure they are more than ONE-PIECE per rim.

What do you mean by that ?? Sean
Now i got it, you are talking about multi piece wheel for weight reduction, they are not that bad in one pieace, about 21lbs, Sean

hehehe i just like lip, but hey 1 piece is just as good.. but i just wanna see more multipiece rims with a nice lip versus the traditional 1 piece on a scion.

but i can't wait to see ur wide rims

there you go...

im was running 16x9 ET15 w/ 215/40/16 all around w/ 2" drop and still needed to go lower, but would have needed to roll my fenders, i was rubbing a little bit if i put anybody in the back seat. Wide, low offset wheels give these cars the perfect stance IMO so have fun with it.

Thanks for the Info Ryan, I was planning on running 215-45 but they are very rare, not that many companies make this size, with 215-40, the speedometer is way off, so now I'm going to try 225-45, more sidewalls so it should fill that gap. if I can fit the wheels first  , Sean

Dumb question time ... why would you want 16x9 rims on you car?

Dumb question time ... why would you want 16x9 rims on you car?

Remember that Pontiac commerical...

"Wider is better"

Well, seriously...it gives the car a wider stance for increased traction and handling properties--although going wider in the rear as opposed to the front does contribute to increasing understeer ever so slightly...most won't notice the difference.

A combination of looks/wider stance/more rubber contacting the road.

Would you be more confident with a wheel that is 6 inches wide or a wheel that is 9 inches wide...?

I'll let Van tackle this one--he is THE authority on wide wheels...haha.

why wouldn't u? everyones wheels are all sunken in.. u swear we're playing battleships.

its not supposed to be 'SUNK'... 16x9 will fill the fenders nicely..
he wont be needing a spacer like everyone to make the rear wheels a lil more flush.

I am running 17X8 with +30 offset. But if they made 17X9 I would have definitely gotten those for the rear for a nice staggered setup so i can get that nice rear lip. UMMMM.

Wow, I missed this thread.

Alright. I'm running 18x9 in the back. I have a 1/2" spacer and they sit out past the fender about 3/4 inch.

I had to roll the fenders up. Now, I get minimal rubbing. If I take a banked corner at any relatively high speed, it will rub. Spring travel isn't too high, so bumps and such don't have much effect on rubbing.

Now, if I have someone in the back, or am carrying stuff in the back, this is what happens...

Trust Van. He gave me the perfect offsets for my car, and they turned out awesome...
