View Full Version : Moving to Tulsa Area
Spider13 12-14-2005, 01:26 PM Well it looks like in the next year I am going to be moving to the area just north of Tulsa. Looks like alot of active scion people there which is good. But I was wondering what the show scene is like out there. Are there any good sites with show coverage and such. Or anyone got names of some of the bigger shows.
I've heard the minitruck scene is huge in the midwest, but its been 10 years since I've lived out that way. Thanks for your help.
mafiamike 12-14-2005, 01:45 PM I'm not too sure what there is in the Tulsa metro. In the OKC metro we have TunerFest and Slamboree...they are pretty big customs shows. There are a lot of little shows around, too. You should think about joining Scikotics. I guess it's pretty much the only Scion club in Oklahoma...Ah, who am I kidding. It's the only Scion club. Period. Talk to FrankenScion, he lives in the Tulsa area, so he'd know what's up more than I do. He can also add you to the club here on SL! (and you can go register at www.scikotics.com)
whatmovesu 12-14-2005, 01:48 PM Don't worry between the shows in oklahoma and texas you will be fine. Some of the more senior people will fill you in on the individual show events but trust me there a bunch. As far as club support no place better IMO. Read the sig
FrankenScion 12-14-2005, 09:29 PM We can definitely help you out Spider.
The show scene, as long as you don't mind driving a bit, is pretty good around here.
And, you don't have to be in the club to hang out with us....but it is more fun....lol.
You would definitely be a weclome addition to the Oklahoma Scion scene.
Spider13 12-15-2005, 12:26 AM Well it looks like it'll be next fall when i finally get to move. We have a 200 year old house here that I have to finish rehabing before I can get out of here. But I plan to be in the area as soon as it gets warm to start looking at houses and for work and such(most likely without my box). Maybe I'll try to plan it at the same time as a meet or something, so i can meet some of you.
I'll diffently look into Scikotics when i move. I am glad to here that there is a decent show scene there.
FrankenScion 12-15-2005, 12:33 AM We are having a nationwide meet and show in OKC June 17th.
But anytime you wanna come down and look for houses or something, let me know. I'll help any way I can.
I know a great real estate agent too......lol.
Spider13 12-19-2005, 02:44 AM Ok I have one last question. Since none of my cars nore my motorcycle will pass an inspection. Does Oklahoma have inspection?
BrideOfFrankenScion 12-19-2005, 03:11 AM :relief: no inspections -- they dropped that about 5 years ago
Spider13 12-19-2005, 05:28 AM Ok then I can move.....I just thought of that today and it wasn't a happy feeling. But atleast OK is as slack as SC on those things. Also from reading though it looks like I managed to find the only 2 states where tattoos are illegal, which sucks.
FrankenScion 12-19-2005, 10:03 AM But there are tattoo shops springing up all over Oklahoma anyway. Seems they found a loophole since tattos are technically removable now. :silly:
I still make the 1 1/2 hour drive to Fayetteville, Ark. though. I haven't seen anyone here that can compare to my guy at Brainstorm Tattoo, Tim Martin.
Spider13 12-19-2005, 05:53 PM Thats cool. It's never been a big deal for me here since i am less then 20 mins from nc. They made tattooing legal here about 2 years ago. but never set up a way to regulate it or budgeted for anyone to do. So they remain illegal since no one can get a license to do it.
FrankenScion 12-19-2005, 08:30 PM Sounds like you have the same goverment we do.
whatmovesu 12-19-2005, 11:07 PM
tatoo's are illegal in OK wow
FrankenScion 12-19-2005, 11:32 PM Crazy ain't it?
It would be much more economical and reasonable to legalize it, regulate it and tax it.
mafiamike 12-19-2005, 11:52 PM Scuba Steve would agree! We need more tax dollars in OKC.
FrankenScion 12-19-2005, 11:54 PM
trebor 12-26-2005, 04:30 AM That was so wrong............
Spider13, just keep us informed when your coming, we're always making up excuses to go hang out with the other Scikotics in Tulsa and a potential member would be a legitt reason to head that way!!
And about your car.........dayyyyyaaaammmmmnn!!! Howd you get it so low? Bags? Springs? What size are those rims? I love the color too :P
Spider13 12-29-2005, 01:54 PM Well right now it looks like I am going to be making 2 trips this year before I move. We will be there in early spring to visit the area(mainly for my girlfriend to check things out). Then towards the end of summer or fall I'll be back, I have 2 project cars and a bike. So I need to pull atleast one of the cars to OK so I've got one less to move when we finally move. I've got famliy in Clairemore and Oolagah so atleast I'll have some where to hide my toys for a bit. We are hoping to have the house I am living in on the market by the end of Sept. and we will be moving as soon as it sells. So I really hope to be there by thanksgiving at the latest.
The Xb is bagged on 18's, hopefully its lower and painted by the time I move. But its going to be a crazy year so who knows.
BrideOfFrankenScion 12-29-2005, 02:41 PM Hook up with us when you get here and we'll show you around -- Tulsa is a pretty cool city.
FrankenScion 12-29-2005, 11:41 PM Do you have an idea of where you are moving yet? You said north of Tulsa and that you have family in Claremore, so I'm assuming Claremore.
One of our first members lives in Claremore, Brandon (xbtuner), the one with a Blitz SC.
Spider13 12-30-2005, 12:57 AM Really looking at Owasso, Clairemore, maybe Bartlesville(but its not very high on my list). The trip this spring is really to look at towns and see which ones we like. I've visited a fair amount, but I have never really looked into what areas I would like to live in. I'd like to find something in the county a bit, but nothing to far from a city, and not more then about 30 minutes of Tulsa.
FrankenScion 12-30-2005, 01:00 AM Owasso is really blowing up right now and it's not far from Tulsa at all, maybe 15 minutes.
FrankenScion 01-11-2006, 12:22 AM Hey J.R., I just found out that we are having a tattoo convention April 1-2. www.tulsatattooconvention.com
You said you were coming down in the spring to check things out, that might be a good time. :)
Spider13 01-29-2006, 01:38 AM Damn that sucks. I am getting married on April 1st, so I am not going to make it then. Looks like it'll be the end of april or first week of may.
BrideOfFrankenScion 01-29-2006, 02:00 PM Damn that sucks. I am getting married
I kid, I kid.
