My 5 speed FM Xa is on order. I want to boost the horsepower, will upgrading the exhaust give me more pep or just more noise? In addition, what will Toyota charge for the installation on top of the $299? Lastly, will this affect my emissions warranty?
Thanks guys (and girls)
nope if you add a header you'll feel more peep at highway speeds
i have the dc header and trd muffler you would be better off installing it your self its really is cake walk

i don't have a header, so I cannot comment on that. But the TRD exhaust is wonderful as far as sound. They say more HP, but I don't notice anything, course I have a different theory about that.. "can't go fast? Sound fast". The exhaust sounds awesome, plus the tip fits the cut out on the xB (don't know what rig you're getting). So there's the asthetic appeal also.
May I suggest buying from Spark Toyota and installing yourself? There is actually only one clamp to loosen and two hangers to spray a little W40 on and slip loose. Total time of about 30 minutes if you take your time. Also spend the extra couple bucks and get a new crush gasket. The old one will work fine, but they are made to be crushed once, not twice, it'll save you a potential headache later on down the road.
good luck with it

sounds great will not affect your emissons warranty they'll even give you a sound decibal note. i'm not sure if it covers emissions too but the muffler itself wont effect emissions.

So this is self do able without having to have a welder? I might have to go shopping tomorrow if this is true.
one bolt and a couple of hangers
they say 30 minutes but it took me one hour to do
i blame those nipple hangers on the stock exhaust really blows chunks...

The TRD exhaust is good stuff, then again, so is anything from TRD. Installation took about 45 minutes since the hangars on the stock exhaust just suck. With a little persuasion and some elbow grease, I managed to get the exhaust swapped out.
I have a DC Header coupled with my TRD Exhaust so my exhaust note is slightly louder than just the exhaust, but the exhaust note is just pure sex. A nice mellow throaty growl emits from the exhaust under accelleration and letting of the accelerator will produce a nice burbling sound as the RPM decreases.
I picked my TRD Exhaust up from www.TRDSparks.com. The guys at Sparks Toyota/Scion are excellent when it comes to service and price.
