So this morning an hour before my final exam, I was walking to my car and I was about 10 feet to my car. I discover the biggest scratch! It was about 3 feet long starting from my side mirror until the gas door! Its not an ordinary scratch too! The a-hole that did it made it look like one of those crazy straws you see at 7-eleven! fcuk I'm so ____ed! I ____ed mainly because, I don't know why would anyone do this to my car? I live in an appartment complex and I say hi to everyone! I don't have any beef with anybody and it really ____es me off that somebody would do this. I'm so nice that I make sure that once I enter my complex that I don't make that much noise with my exhaust! Has this ever happened to any of you guys? What should I do now? Should I call my insurance company asap? Will my insurance get higher? How much would it be to remove the scratch? Here's another thing, I have the viper 791xv alarm system installed about a month ago and it didn't even go off!!! What's the deal with that? How come it didn't set off the alarm? Please help me get my questions answered because its going to be another sleepless night for me! My bebi's hurt and so am I! I'd really appreciate any advice or opinion. Thanks.

That really sucks, RD. Sometimes it doesn't matter how nice or good you are to people.....there is always someone that's going to be displeased no matter what.
I feel for you!!

it happened to me about 6 months ago, only it went from my front bumper, to my rear tail light and bumper.

i am with state farm, and what you need to do is:

Call 911 (yes i know its not an emergency, but i was told to call that #)
tell them what happened, they will ask you if you think u know who did it
they will give u a # for your police claim, and the police wil contact your insurance.
be sure to be in contact with ur insurance, and give them that number, and you will have to get a quote from a body shop to see how much it will cost to get it fixed.
now with my insurance, statefarm coverd all $1,200.00 worth of damage, and my insurance didnt go up. but that is now the 2nd claim I have with statefarm, the first one was my windshield crackin.

Your insurance SHOULDNT go up, but if you keep filing claims it will

hope i helped and good luck

Yeah I know exaclty who did it, but I didnt tell the police for personal reasons. I now regret that I didnt tell the police though. Anyway I didnt provoke the kid in anyway, its a long story... but anyway it was still immature.

Good Luck man, State Farm is awesome, so you will be good. Make sure you go t a top of the line body shop that does extremely good work (dont worry about how much it cost, cause ur insurance wil cover it, if you have full coverage)

Your 791 didnt go off because it will only go off if someone causes shock to the car like bumping it hard. You can key a car up all you want and the alarm wont do squat unless you have a proximity sensor installed (which doesnt work for crap in a hardtop to begin with).

Sorry about your car bud.

Just file the claim, call the local number for the police, they are not going to really do anything, they can't. It was most likely a visitor or someone just driving by and drunk. At least they did not cut your tires or do something to the engine, or interior.

Does your complex have hidden cameras? May be too late now, but if they do maybe they have an archive and can help you?

yeah it was an unfortunate incident but its still a good thing that it wasn't anything worse than getting keyed.

no my complex doesn't have any cameras nor have enough street lights so even though someone saw the incident, itll still be hard to tell who did it.

i filed my report online and got my case number and all... just got to look for a body shop to get an estimate and fixed. just not sure if i could choose which bodyshop or do i have to go with the list my insurance company gave me.

hopefully in time, my car will look good as new.

thanks for all the reply.
