Default Diy Dezod Turbo Kit questions

http://www.dezod.com/pd_dezod_motorsports_turbo.cfm

I was looking online for turbo kits and came across this one. There are two reasons why I want to get a turbo kit for my car A I want to learn how to work on cars and I will be doing the install myself (with help obviously) B I want my car to befaster eh...

Is this kit something that a begginer could get?

and also ive been looking for a kit that i can upgrade slowly later, kinda like zpi stage 0. Is this kit good for that? When i first install it I would run it very low 4-6 psi if possible. I was wondering what would I need in addition to the components in teh kit to run it at that. Ones i would get everythign workign smoothly over a period of time id upgrade it with ecu managment intercooler and so on and turn up boost(over a long period of time)

I am looking for help about this I really want to learn how to work and tune cars and f/i.

Our kit is expandable by far. It is quite easy for a beginner to install as long as you have some basic hand tools, are pretty good at knowing the car and use common sense. Turbo systems are not rocket science. Just a little bit to learn. We are finishing up a real nice DIY install disc which will be included with the kits.

I would recommend the plug and play harness to make your install easier. Also, I would recommend a clutch as well as you stock clutch will burn out VERY soon from the extra torque. Everything else is only icing on the cake. I would also recommend a Wideband O2 gauge, EGT and a boost gauge to help monitor the system.

the stock clutch wont handle 4-6 psi boost? hm new clutch then

Also what I mean by extra stuff is clamps and hoses and oil lines what will i need in terms of that? the disk sounds great Iam leaning very much towards this kit now seems like its perfect for what I want

Add a lightweight flywheel while your doing the clutch....

Wow... That's a quick way to spend 5-6 grand.

plus at first iam looking for the bare minimum just enough psi to run a little extra hp anything 200+ is good, and just so that the system runs smoothly and good. Ones I got that down then Ill worry about higher boost and upgrading. Looking for the minimum to run on the stock everything. Yes very quickly ill upgrade the clutch.

the kit is more than $2000. It's $4075 dollars and ships with an 8.7psi wastegate spring setting. The clutch is obviously more and the gauges are a must. So I'd plan on spending abotu $5000 to properly turbocharge a car. We just made 271.5 and 292tq at the wheels today on this exact turbo kit just by adding 2psi to the base setting.

If you've never run FI, I'd STRONGLY suggest getting the kit... The clutch will run 500 + w/install and the guages will be at least 500.... depending on the kind you buy... a wideband O2 runs around 300 plus or minus a bit by itself...

If you want a FI car... whatever kit you buy, you will end up spending at minimum 4 grand... at least right now.... plus installs (clutch, which is not for the faint of heart) and definately plus dyno time if you don't by a pre-tuned full kit, but I'd suggest dyno-tuning either way...

This is not the world of tuning to go cheap... and it's not cheap to do it right....

But... You must pay to play!

ALSO With that link... your missing an intercooler and all the intake and other important piping... which you'd need to pay someone to bend and set up for you...

dont get me wrong I understand that investing money in a fi car is a must. I am not trying to go cheap I am trying to do the monimum so that it is easier to install like i said iam tryign to learn how to work with f/i and am looking for the easiest kit to install with the minimum parts so that I can learn more later and upgrade. not trying to save money trying to have the least amount to mess up. The sc seemed good but the only reason i migh tnot want it is because of the harder to upgrade later possibilities as far as i understand.

So i decided to go turbo but obviously i dont want a 5000 kit that has intercooler emanagage and the rest of the stuff to installl which is jsut more thign sto worry about while iam installing. So i figured id get zpi 0 until i found the DIY dezod kit.

Add at least 1500 to that kit to get you up and running... and more to do it really right...

But realize... you're going the direction that people with more experience should go... as you'll still have to get pipes bent for your intake to the turbo and then to the intake manifold and weld in the MAF mount to the intake as well... plus all the neccesary tuning you'll have to do by not going with a pretuned kit...

It's MUCH better to spend more money initially and let the guys and ZPI or Dezod do a lot of that tuning and busywork for you.

Either that or saving a bit more for the Dezod will be the best solution...

at least with ZPI, most of the kinks have been worked out a bit and you have Sciondad to bug to help you...

but, Paul at Dezod looks like he'll support amazingly too... If I had the cash.... I'd lean Dezod's way
