Sciomodr 04-19-2004, 04:12 PM A shock/dampener 's job is to control the spring. Add more spring (higher rate) and you need more shock to control it. The threads I've read here lead me to believe that the aftermarket springs are for the most part softer than stock or at least have a more progressive/dual rate spring wind. For those the stock shock should be more than adaquate. Its when you add a much stiffer rate (say 50# per inch or more) spring than stock you should replace the shocks. Best rule of thumb though is do what feels right to you. If it rides stiff, adding more shock will just make your pain worse. If you think that it feels sloppy in turns, then yes, adding more shock will help ease that pain. Mike supitsmark 04-21-2004, 06:47 AM thanks for the info!
