View Full Version : CAI s/c question?
Juggalo79 12-17-2005, 03:44 PM i'm looking at getting a CAI but also plan on getting a s/c in the future. is the CAI for the s/c differnt or can i just by the injen or k&n put it on my n/a engine and have it work for the s/c. i dont want to have to by 2 intakes. thanx all
TheQuietThings 12-17-2005, 04:39 PM CAIs do not fit with the supercharger. I'm pretty sure it is because there is absolutely no room left in the engine bay once the supercharger is installed.
imsonofagun 12-17-2005, 05:48 PM it's not only the room that's a problem, but the supercharger is directly in the path from the intake piping and the intake manifold. Also, the way the supercharger is designed changes everything. From the airbox, there is a short U-tube going to the S/C, then another hose from the S/C to the intake manifold. The only aftermarket intake available right now that fits without modification is the Umnitza carbon fiber one. Only problem I've heard with the Umnitza (and modified aftermarket) intakes is if you use it with the S/C, you may have problems with the engine running lean.

Nick06tC 12-17-2005, 05:53 PM i should take that pic again but put the intake in it. THERE IS NO ROOM. When ZPI come out with theirs its going to be interesting to see how the bends are.
(oh and on a side note. I looked today and the BPV is in the top of this pic. Can it be replaced without taking out my DC sports strut bar?)
Relocate the battery, and remove that intake cap. A lot can be done.
FLINT 12-17-2005, 07:45 PM :tap: how many times r we goin to answer this question in 1 year. just wait 4 the intercooler to come out! :eyebrow:

Nope. I had to take my DC Sports strut bar off to install the bpv. It makes it a whole lot easier
05-RS1 12-17-2005, 09:28 PM i was thinking about modifying my injen cai once i got the supercharger. perhaps a custom pipe that connects the throttle body to second pipe on the cai
imsonofagun 12-18-2005, 02:12 PM I've seen someone take their aftermarket intake and cut the tube right before the MAF sensor bung and make a short ram intake. They attached the intake to the stock rubber tube that comes with the supercharger. Shouldn't be too hard to do a CAI, just need to figure out how to mount the piping.

Nick06tC 12-18-2005, 05:56 PM I wonder how functional that is?

I wonder why this isnt in the correct forum?
imsonofagun 12-18-2005, 07:32 PM I wonder why this isnt in the correct forum?
I'm wondering the same thing. I've seen a bunch of intake posts being moved to F/I and now we have a S/C question being moved to NA. Weird I tell ya.
05-RS1 12-18-2005, 11:47 PM shoulda just kept it power hungry lol
rockbrawler884 12-27-2005, 06:13 AM have anyone thought about extending the tube and place the air filter for the S/C where the Air Filter would be if it were a CAI?
tikbhoy 12-27-2005, 06:26 AM have anyone thought about extending the tube and place the air filter for the S/C where the Air Filter would be if it were a CAI?
Too many people argue that having a CAI isnt beneficial since air passing thru the turbine turbo or sc will be pressurized and heated.
Ive done replacing the stock airbox using aftermarket MAF adapter tubes but i dint like the way ti drives on the low end. nice gain tho on top end.
HighlanderMac 12-27-2005, 02:52 PM I also have a modified Short Ram on my S/C and my numbers with just the intake, exhaust and BPV was 208hp/186ft-lbs

DTRUONG_112 12-27-2005, 05:14 PM but now you also got the 9lb pulley on it and better numbers.
Nick06tC 12-27-2005, 06:54 PM Do you have a dyno with the 9lb pulley?
zoltiz 12-28-2005, 11:11 PM This is turning into "post a picture of your DIY SC intake" thread.

 i see you made a bracket for it. what maf pipe did you use ?
Nu_ERA 01-02-2006, 08:14 PM I custom fabricated a K&N Cold Air Intake. This is gonna sound dumb but I cant post pics up cause I don't really know how. But if you wanna see it the link to it is <http://www.cardomain.com/ride/852550/3>
i found a fit kit for the tc s/c for automatic has anyone else seen this
imsonofagun 01-03-2006, 04:06 PM I have seen the auto fit-kit listed at various places for a several months....but I have never seen the kit available for purchase. One of these years it'll be available. Anyways, kind of the wrong place for a post like this, being it's CAI for the s/c :p
