Well, i've been working at TGI Fridays for 3 years now, and other then the managment, the menu, and the bulding itself changing, theres one more thing that changed this year....i cant say merry christmas to my guests anymore....i have to say instead "Happy Holiday's". I think this is bull personally, i guess they think people will be offended if they do not celebrate the holiday. I know i wouldn't mind if someone wished me a happy Chanakah (sp?). I would either just ignore the remark, or say thanks!. I guess theres alot of this kinda stuff going around this year, but i just think its much to do about nothing...what do you all think? You thinks its ok to say Merry Christmas? Or would you rather here Happy Holiday's?? Occasionally i settle with the Virgin Mobile spoof and say Happy Christmahanaquanzacha lol.... let me kinow what you think...

im catholic.. so i do celebrate xmas. if someone said happy kwanza to me id politely reply merry christmas bakk. it shouldnt be a big deal. people are too politically correct. the whole holiday tree crap and wanting to remove "one nation under god" from the pledge crap is getting stupid though. its a free nation that encourages new ideas, but come on, dont try to change the nation's traditions (xmas tree to holiday tree) and history (removing one nation under god from pledge).
when you think about it, its exactly what we're trying to do in certain countries though, ie, overhauling iraq's government. :P

All we have to say is, when will they do something about MY RIGHTS?
I celebrate Christmas...........but because it isn't celebrated by everyone..............we can no longer say Merry Christmas. Now it has to be Season's Greetings.
It's not Christmas vacation, it's Winter Break. Isn't it amazing how this winter break ALWAYS occurs over the Christmas holiday?

IMMIGRANTS,NOT AMERICANS,MUST ADAPT.
I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we
are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Americans. However...... the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the "politically correct! " crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others.
I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to America. Our population is almost entirely made up of descendants of immigrants. However, there
are a few things that those who have recently come to
our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand. This idea of America being a
multicultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Americans... we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle. This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.
We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language.
Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language!
"In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan.. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women.......on Christian principles.............
founded this nation..... and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it
on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as
your new home.........because God is part of our culture.
If Stars and Stripes offend you, or you don't like Uncle Sam, then you should seriously consider a move

don't care how you did things where you came from.

Wake up people. There are REAL issues to debate in the world. Don't waste your precious time and energy on the hyped up 'debate of the moment' designed as slight of hand to take your eyes off the prize, and turn your head from the real problems.

its more about a select few people who are voicing their opinion blabbering about "change this.. change that.. blah blah blah.. im offended that God is in the pledge of allegence.." and "i dont want the ten commandments in the courthouse...remove them now because im not christian." YOU CANNT CHANGE the history of a nation. whether or not the people that are whining accept it or not, this is a christian nation. can i ask everyone something? what do you put your right hand on when you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth when youre on the stand in court? why dont the people that are constanly whining about these issues say "im offended by having to put my right hand on a bible. can i just pinky swear?"

BEFORE READING THIS PLEASE REMEMBER THAT I MEAN EVERYTHING I SAY RESPECTFULLY. PLEASE DO NOT BASH ME OR MY VIEWS JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE DIFFERENT THEN YOURS.Is not one of the big messages in the founding of our country also "there should be separation of church and state" (i wish this were true) nothing tough to understand about that...if someone is against "god" being stated somewhere you should be smart enough to understand it is against the basic principles of what the USA was founded on to begin with.
I respectfully disagree with you and here is why...(if i understood you correctly)
Separation of church and state is where the government cannot mandate who, what where, why, when and how people go to church and whatnot. When the 'Pilgrims' left England they left because they wanted to worship their God. They did not want to be part of the Roman Catholic church. They wanted to set up their own counrty where they could worrship who, what where, why, when and how they wanted. Our country allows everyone to worship (or not worship) whatever they want. By me not being able to say merry christmas AT ALL (anytime, anywhere) I would say that,my rights as and American born citizen are being infringed upon. However Since it is a company policy that I can't say merry christmas then it is not infringing on my rights. It is just their policy and you can either accept it or find a new job. I see no one all upset because they can take a gun to work even though our constitution states "Right to bear Arms."
I dont like the whole religious stuff in the pledge personally, BUT I dont see the big deal in trying to spend so much time and effort to change it.....it never hurt me so big deal. (just dont say it SHOULD be there, it should not)
but...as someone else stated before, the whole point of people leaving europe and founding the USA was to get away from the religious rules/ties/laws...so we get away from it then turn around and use it?????? backwards!!
I agree with you on the point that the whloe point of leaving europe and founding the USA was to get away from the religious rules/ties/laws. And they did. However those that originally came over from europe had the same thing in mind. Freedom from a state controlled church. Yes they did set up there own church and make their own laws that were backed by their religion but they were all in agreement. No one said that they must only have one religion. There are actually many different religions that came to America.
TRY LOOKING AT IT THIS WAY:
Unlike many countries around the world, the United States mandates full religious freedom in its Constitution. No government official or politician can tell you which faith to follow. That very personal decision is made by each individual. Without this right to worship as we see fit, Americans would not be truly a free people.
Separation of church and state is good for religion.
The United States is one of the most religious nations on earth. The overwhelming majority of Americans say they believe in God, and many attend worship services regularly. In contrast, in some European nations where religion still gets government support, interest in faith is falling, and many people no longer go to services.
Separation of church and state is good for families.
Thanks to the separation of church and state, you are in complete control of the religious upbringing of your children. Government institutions, including the public school system, are not permitted to coerce your children to adopt new and different religions.
Separation of church and state is good for taxpayers.
Many colonial-era Americans were strongly opposed to taxation to support government-favored churches. They vehemently resented being forced to turn over their hard-earned money to support religions whose doctrines they considered wrong or even dangerous.
Separation of church and state is good for America.
Few countries have as much religious diversity as ours. One scholar of religion has estimated that 2,000 faith groups and denominations are active in America.
