View Full Version : New Mods.......?
drsmith4 12-19-2005, 09:10 PM Ok so i'm planning on getting my windows tinted, Injen CAI, and Megan Racing headers by the end of January. Any suggestions on where I should get them from. I found them on ebay for 230 for the intake and 200 for the headers. Does anyone know of anywhere cheaper and possibly install costs?? I'd really like to hear from Mike about prices at Xtreme if he's around. Thanks everyone!
Oh yeah.... I'm also looking for some good speakers for my fiancee's neon. Possibly Alpine type R's. Should I call All Around Sound first?
FoDoToaster 12-20-2005, 03:16 AM I'll check tomorrow. More than likely, it would be cheaper to get them elsewhere and get some help from someone in the club to install them.
Type-R's are cool, but it would be best to get an amp for them. I don't know of an aftermarket radio that could sufficiently power them.
Gothbox 12-20-2005, 04:31 AM what size speakers?
drsmith4 12-20-2005, 02:05 PM 6 1/2 and 6x9
Any opinions on the headers and cold air intake? I have heard that the trd exhaust combined with the headers sounds real ricey and I DEFINATELY dont want that! I've tried searching for a sound clip of it but i cant find it anywhere.
Big_hungry 12-20-2005, 08:01 PM you need to ask nick. he just had his header put on . not sure of he has the trd exhaust or not

I think it is DC as well as the header.

I can check with one of our venders on an Ingen intake.
We can get the Alpines if you want them but we also have a bunch of Fusion now that we have been VERY happy with, they would be cheaper and we have them in stock.
FoDoToaster 12-21-2005, 03:28 AM Talked to Kevin today. He suggests the DC header over the Megan. And yes, the TRD is awful. Did a radio in a white tC last week and it had a very hollow and harsh sound. Kinda like running a chainsaw inside a 55-gallon drum.
drsmith4 12-21-2005, 04:06 AM Thanks everyone! I am considering not getting the headers at all but i'm interested to see how much of a gain it adds. I know i want the CAI because of the increase in mpg.
As for the speakers.... I'm not real sure what the difference between speaker brands are but i know that he wants the Alpine type R sub. He recently discovered that there are type R speakers as well and thats what he asked for but i'm on a pretty tight budget.
scionteammember 12-21-2005, 12:45 PM Nick has the DC sports headers and DOES NOT have the TRD exhaust. It sounds really good and I would definately go with that set-up if I was going to do headers. I am looking at a TURBO for my future purchase so I do not know what I will do.
drsmith4 12-22-2005, 04:50 PM Ok i think i have made up my mind..... maybe. lol. My mods for January are going to be tint ( first on my list. a definate must), injen CAI, and remote start. I'm going to hold off on the headers for now.
Does anyone have thier windshield tinted? I have heard of plenty of people tinting their windshields like 35%. I'm sure it looks better but i dont want any difficulties at night. Let me know what you think.

Kevin McHone at Xtreme has his Flint Mica tC tinted on the front windshield and it looks bad ___.

As for teh sub it will run from about $200-400, depending on size.
For the other sizes The 6.5" will run about $270 and the 6x9 are about $180
and Mike is right that you will need an amp for them b/c they take a lot of power.
drsmith4 12-24-2005, 01:53 AM Yeah i figured that about what they would run. I will probably buy him either a sub or some speakers and let him worry about amp. I will probably be asking some more questions around the middle of next month cause thats when i'll be buyin this stuff. All of our christmas money went to the little one so our christmas is gettin put off a month. lol
