Viper Two way alarm problem help!
Hi, i just installed my alarm and when i press autostart i go into my car and when i press the clutch in it tries to crank again and makes grinding noises everytime i push the cluth to the floor. And also when i press autostart again while the car is on so i can take the key out and let it run while i go into the store, the idle drops to like 200rpm and seems to die but it brings it back up to 900 any ideas? Thanks

sounds like you dont have the right or all the ignition wires on one of your problems. The other thing might be they taped into the wrong wire down there. If you step on the brake does the car shut off if the key isnt in there? It should shut off when the brake is pushed, or when the hood is opened.
it sounds like there is an issue or two. The idle may be cause you have hooked the 556U wrong. The grinding could be cause if it is tapped into the wrong wire and the alarm doesnt see that its on so it tries to start itself 3 times like it is programmed to do.

Bah alarm install's arent hard, its just dificult to find the wires you need. I've seen quite a few "authorized installers" screw the pooch. A title means nothing, just lets people know about how much you get paid. The guy came here asking for help not people telling him he doesn't know anything. If he knew he wouldnt be here. And if you did I bet you would tell him,.
Well to someone who is actually MECP certified I think that after u see some 5 wire installs or work on newer cars with all the bypasses u would not feel that way. But i guess only people who really put in the work to learn how to do it right and take pride in what they do know what i mean.
You have no clue what I have seen nor what I know. I was doing custom installs with a IASCA winning installer 10 years ago. Please dont make assumptions. I have seen it all. Including telephone wire for power wire. This is not rocket science, but you have to understand people will be people. You can help them or ignore them, but theres no need to make comments that are constructive or helpful. Move along little one.
Ohh BTW certs are a joke. Just a pretty piece of paper to make people feel good. The people who tend to know the most dont even have any certs because they do it for a passion not a job.

this is pretty hard to figure out with seeing the car but here are a few things to check. Relearn the tach. if the tach was learned wrong it can cause the car to crank funny. how is the clutch bypassed? you may want to check the wiring of the relay used to bypass the clutch. need some help on how you installed it.
It almost sounds like your doing this:
autostart
Getting
Not inserting the key
press the clutch
It causes the grinding sound
What you should be doing is:
turn it on
Get in
put the key in to the on pos.
taping the brake
(by taping the brake it switches from the remote start to the regular start)
Then pressing the clutch
As far as the engine idle its probably a wiring thing. But it could be normal, I have never tried taking the key out while its running with mine.

Okay for people who would attempt to install this on a scion tc. I figured out the grinding problem. I had a friend that works at toyota print me out one of thier scion tc schematics very helpful and detailed and overall easy to read.
It was the starter wire that i spliced into. Usually for other cars the starter wire would be a negative, and scion made our starter wire a positive. So whenever i push on the clutch it sends a positive feed and tries to start the car again. To fix this i used a diode and placed it between my alarm starter wire to my ecu start wire. And presto now i can push in the clutch and it would not try to start again. Nor can i try to crank it by key if the car is started.
Now my other problem, i have yet to look into. Whenever i press the autostart button while i have the key to the on position; to get out with the key and leave the car running. The car idles at 500rpms so when i press the autostart it falls below zero rpms and the engine stalls. If i rev it up to 1.5k and press autostart and take out the key the car will remain on. I think my connection on the rpm sensor is not good enough. I will try to re splice it and see if it works. Thanks for the help. If anyone needs the Engine Control schematics i have a copy =D.
