NOTE: THIS MEET IS OPEN TO *ALL!* I HAVE ONLY MENTIONED SCIKOTICS AS A RATIONALE FOR CHOOSING THE 2ND WEEK OF THE MONTH!

I and a few others from Scikotics have been discussing starting a second monthly meet... Since Scikotics is more Eastside/Northend and therefor meets the last Friday of the month, this is something that would take place probably the second WEEK in the month to space it out more, and there's been talk about having something in the MIDDLE of the week since a lot of folks already have plans and/or work schedules don't allow for a Friday evening meet.

This is an attempt to get those people involved also.

These meets would serve two purposes...

1) Make it easier to include those that can't meet on Fridays but CAN meet in the middle of the week

and

2) If enough of any of the clubs show up and would like to, it gives them a time to discuss club related events, fundraisers, ideas, plans, etc where they can all/mostly be together.


I need to know WHAT TIME and WHERE anyone interested in this second monthly meet for the "northend" would LIKE to meet...

I'm going to start a poll and include the following choices:

Tuesday Evening (This meet would take place on Tuesday and could begin sometime in the neighborhood of 7:00pm. That seems to work well for those working earlier in the day or those that have 9-5 jobs. We could also discuss earlier times if that appeals to the majority)

Wednesday Evening (This meet would take place on Wednesday and could begin sometime in the neighborhood of 7:00pm. That seems to work well for those working earlier in the day or those that have 9-5 jobs. We could also discuss earlier times if that appeals to the majority)

Thursday Evening (This meet would take place on Thursday and could begin sometime in the neighborhood of 7:00pm. That seems to work well for those working earlier in the day or those that have 9-5 jobs. We could also discuss earlier times if that appeals to the majority)

This meet would give those with the interest but the inability to meet, THE ABILITY TO MEET. :) It would also be cool to have DAYTIME meets if that works for others, especially during winter months where it doesn't take mush to freeze your ^&$# off.

ALSO, WOULD YOU LIKE TO DO THE PARKING LOT TYPE MEET, A LUNCH/DINNER TYPE MEET, A COFFEE SHOP MEET, ETC... (This meet can be just like the others, or a bit of a departure. It depends on what everyone would like to do.)

My goal is to implement this in January, but February would work too.

I've voted for Wednesday evening, and here's why:

Depending on what people consider "early afternoon" I may still be at work. I work until usaully 1-1:30pm. But honestly, anytime from 2:00pm on works for me. The concept of a daytime meet is kind of cool too.

I'm down for any of the options, but a parking lot/coffee shop meet would be cool. Meet at a big parking lot that has a Starbucks or something, have access to hot OR cold drinks depending on weather and we could always spend SOME time inside and the rest outside, but it's got that built in "Plan B" if weather is complete crap. (I'm also down if people want to do a lunch/dinner meet but $ can be an issue for some people, and I don't want a situation where people won't come because of that...

So...

Weds / After 2pm / Parking Lot & Coffee Shop

Alderwood or Northgate seems to be a great area to meet. Northgate would be a change of scenery and Alderwood would be a more familiar location...

good luck with this but I'll let you know after Dave and I banged heads for days over teh same subject we figured out that while it doesnt work for everyone, Fridays in this area work for the most people. Also, you may want to avoid wednesdays because Kitsap does their meet and greet on wednesdays so you dont want to overlap.

Also, just FYI the current northend meets are getting moved to the Dicks in Lake City. Its just more fun than a crappy parking lot and lets face it a lot freaking warmer

But as before, good luck, Hopefully if you get it going I'll be able to swing out to a few here and there. I can always use more Scion in my life.

Right, and the point of a second meet earlier in the month and toward the middle of the week gives that much more of a chance of EVERYONE being able to show up to at least one of the various meets each month :)

Is it the 2nd Weds of the month? I could definitely avoid it. Out of curiosity, do many of the Kitsap folks come out this way for the meets? I'm not readily remembering anyone that comes on a regular basis saying they're from Kitsap... Would this really effect an exiting meet out that way? (Legitimate question... I have no idea...)

How/when was this decided? There's not even mention of it in the thread that handles this meet. Alderwood has covered parking and lots of restaurants... (and a foodcourt with stuff that's WAAAAY cheap, even a Starbucks and Jamba Juice) I'm just asking because I've heard nothing about the location moving, and it's moving a fair distance south which makes it less of a "northend meet"...

I belive this is an SE hosted meet & greet... so I would imagine that someone from SE is making arrangements to move it. PNW-SE is making a few changes this year, and I belive this one of them....I think.... I get my facts crossed sometimes....

If I recall correctly (I may not) I think there was mention made that the meet was officially "not club related/affiliated" so I would have assumed there'd be some kind of poll type post if there was talk of moving it.

Probably what happened was I misunderstood the posts and/or maybe they were IMs that mentioned this.

That's fine. I can always continue to do the same date and time with my club too... Just want to be on the same page as everyone else




The remark about crossing my fingers is because I'm sure the post could be viewed by some as my arguing with a mod or me presuming I have a say in another club's affairs... Which I'm very aware I am not allowed to do/should not do/would not do/have no business doing... and so on.

Jon/FrankenScion has told me the best thing to do for me, is what he does. Read my post a few times and try to find ANY way that my post can be misconstrued... Even doing that though, I don't think ANYone in ANY forum ANYwhere can bat 1000... I'll aim for .700 though and pleasantly surprise myself if my results are higher. :)
