Default Audi A4 1.8L?

How do you guys think a stock 2000 manual Audi A4 1.8L would stand up vs. a automatic tC in the quarter mile. (tc has Weapon R SRI). I'm tired of hearing this kid at school run his mouth off about his "Audi" that has nothing done to it. Thanks in advance!

The A4 is a little heavier. It makes a little less power but its a stick. Probably pretty even if he can drive good. If both were sticks you could probably beat it.

He can't drive for crap. He has to rev his engine REALLY high just to back out of his parking space. It's funny to watch.

Depends on how good of a driver he is. And if you do it on the street, traffic also clouds the outcome.

i actually have a '04 A4 quattro 1.8 turbo. all that said the car only has about 180 hp. the main question you want to ask is weather the A4 is a quattro or not. if it's a quattro then the tC will win, non quattro the audi will win. IMO the 1.8 A4 should have never been made with available all wheel drive, it slows the car way down, and during the summer with the air on you're in serious trouble.

This is off topic, but I love your avatar, I remember watching Mazinger when I was a kid, brings back memories.

I don'tknow if it would be a drivers race, I raced one a couple of months ago and I only had the Injen short ram intake(I have a 5 speed), I beat him off the line and had a good 2 car length on him.

I think the tC has more of an advantage on low end but on the highway the audi will win hands down. The 1.8T being a turbo will have a better topend and those things are geared for the autobahn.

Thanks for all of the replies. I don't believe that it's a quattro, just a 1.8L. Judging by the dents on his fenders, he's probably not that great of a driver.

Actually that car makes some good low end power.
1.8L
Horsepower 150 @ 5800 RPM
Torque (lb-ft) 162 @ 2200 RPM

being a 2000 model year vehicle, i wonder what shape the turbo is in. if the car is stock and looks banged up, i'd assume the owner hasnt taken steps to upkeep the turbocharger. the tiny K03 turbo on my girlfriend's 2001 A4 1.8t auto has long been dead.

being a 2000, it only makes 150hp, but if its an AEB motor (best flowing 1.8 head and non-drive by wire), it has alot of potential.

btw, the 1.8t is a dohc 20valve engine with variable valve timing. 3 intake and 2 exhaust valves per cylinder.
