anyone who has the ZPI pulley experienced any belt slipping? Im getting real low boost for high RPM... like 4psi. I just cant think of anything else that it could be. I reinstalled the stock one and it worked fine. then put the pulley back on and same as before.. 4-5 psi max. any info would be great.

i have full boost at like 3800 rpms (9ish lbs) No problems... might be the way you shimmed your pulley

sorry for all the posts but also could be a defective spring in the BPV... and that would be able to make it able to hold stock boost and not the upgraded boost level. Hope all this helps

this can be fixed by replacing with a bosch 110 bpv

you should of got a warranty with it so check with the place you got it from and see what they will do for ya... If not call up Bosch.

i guess i could try the stock BPV to see if my 110 is defective.. but i doubt it...

there were no shims on my pulley.. and since i swapped my stock pulley back and it worked tells me that its not the install. im gonna check tomarrow for any belt wearing due to slipping.

you have to reshim the 9 lb pulley. i think i used a .5" shim for that one opposed to none on my stock TRD pulley That could be very well that. But you got shims with your kit. I would check this first before you put yourself through a hell of a lot of trouble

The 9 lb pulley is smaller which means you need to shim it to get proper belt tension so it could be very well that your belt is slipping because of it being to loose. I am 90% sure it will be this since you do not have any shims. Talk to the dealership or whoever did the install to get the shims.

oh yah btw i think you are suppost to have less than 1/8" of play in the Serpentine Belt.

i guess im a little confused about the shims. I thought the purpose was to center the pulley so the belt ran straight. could you explain a little. thanks for the help.

Thaty's what the shims are for. they have nothing to do with belt tension. If you put the stock pulley back on and the belt didn't squeal, then you have other issues. You could try to get a smaller belt and that would give you the proper tension needed for the smaller pulley.

Woah! you get 9lbs of boost at 3800 rpms??? I get 9lbs at like 6200rpms.. HMMMMMM...

You may have already tried this, but see if you can get your belt tensioners tighter on the belt to get your belt on there as tight as possible. With supercharged motors belts have to be on almost insanely tight for everything to work with maximum efficiency. Keep us updated.

I had the same belt squeak with the ZPI pulley. I also dont have the SC but Talk to Kenny, and he should take care of you.

He is good with cust service

my problem is trying to keep traction between 3500 and 5000rpm in 2nd. Major wheel spin hehe.

Is that because of the snow motozen? :P Seriously.. anyone else with the ZPI pulley and a boost gauge .. when are you seeing 9lbs?

i havnt tried tightening the tension bolt.. but i will. if that doesnt work does anyone know the length of the stock belt so i can try to get a shorter one? thanks for all the help guys.

The stock belt part number is 7PK2275. Just take that to a local parts store and have them cross reference that number to a Gates belt. Then get one alittle smaller and you should be set.

So if you are getting 9lbs around 5800, then you should be around 10 or a lil more before rev limiter?

does anyone think that a light coat of non-gloss paint on the pulley would create enough friction to hold? or is that just a bad idea in general? once again I put the stock pulley back on and presto... no problems... now Im convinced its the belt.

just retension it, if its still slipping then try a smaller belt. I wouldnt paint it, that would probably end up coming off after a while

ya.. i just thought about that... DUH!.. its aluminum... paint wouldnt stick anyway.. momentary lack of common sense

we have not had anyone else with a belt issue. I am not saying that this is the case here but weird that you are the first. Munch is right the shims have nothing to do with the tension of the belt. If the belt is slipping you will see some rubber residue around the belt in the engine bay. Is this the case?

I do not want to ask dumb questions but is the 110 installed the right way. We have had two customers install them backwards. Again just trying to thow some random ideas up. Stay in touch so that we can figure it out,

-Kenny

I'm pretty sure I put in the BPV the right way.. just matched how the old one came out. But would even a faulty BPV allow the stock pulley to build up boost fine(7psi) and not even allow 6-7psi on the new pulley? I Looked closely at the belt and there doesnt seem to be any wear. No residue on the pulley either. Hrm... I thik the only way Im gonna figure this out is by putting it on a dyno and seeing what it does under load at high rpm. I'll figure it out one way or another. :ponder:

My best idea's always seem to come to me in my sleep. I woke up one morning and it hit me.. "Belt Dressing" found a can at 2.99$... sprayed up the pullie and belt and we have full boost!!!! :D I dont know how long it will last but the stuff was pretty sticky. I love seeing that needle hit 9psi. Thank god this is over... i tried getting a smaller belt but the poeple at the auto parts store were pretty inept. tried like 3 before i gave up. now its time finally hit the dyno. :rolling:

If you decide to ever change your belt I have a part number for you that will work for our setups...its pretty funny cause the belt comes from an american truck :lalala:
