View Full Version : confused in SCCA class for xb
DeadRinger 12-22-2005, 04:40 AM I have been poking around the SCCA website trying to find uut what class I would run my xb in. Currently I have just lowering springs on it, but I might throw on an intake, slightly better pads and brake fluid.... what class would I be running in? thanks in advance...
Ashe_WCM 12-22-2005, 12:25 PM Stock xB runs in HS
Stock allows you to change shocks , brakes pads/rotors, tires(not wheels) air filter(drop in only).
Sounds to me you will be running STS or FSP both of which are the next level that allows springs.
DeadRinger 12-22-2005, 12:47 PM oh yeah, I would have my 18" on also.... from what I have been reading in the forums I was thinking it would be STS, havent heard o the FSP though...
dexter_5000 12-23-2005, 05:28 AM don't put in a higher dot rating brake fluid you'll regret it if you do. mixing them will cause problems certain ones can be mixed not offten though. if you do it could turn the fluid to sludge and be useless all together.
Tamago 12-23-2005, 01:59 PM JUNK THOSE 18's!!!! worst autoX mod ever! you'll seriously be faster on your stock tires!
i run FSP but i have interior mods that put me there, IE non-airbag steeringwheel, gutted, and race seats.
glad to hear you'e gonna autoX it but for the love of god, get rid of those wheels! you can pick up a lightweight set of 15's for under 100 apiece, and race tires are as cheap as 25 bux used. you can run FSP on race rubber and clean house :)
wooish 01-05-2006, 06:23 AM I have springs and I was in the STS class this past summer.
Tamago 01-06-2006, 03:06 PM i'm hoping to be in SM very very sooon :D

good advice, I will start looking for some 15's. I need to sign up for a refresher course here since it has been well over a year since I have done any racing. I would like to find a club to race with here also.... let me know what other tricks you have for your xb that helps you run better... thx
Tamago 01-12-2006, 05:18 PM check ebay right now.. do a search "enkei rpf1" .. there's a set of 15's WITH azenis already mounted.. great starter set of wheels.. can't beat 8lbs wheels
DeadRinger 01-12-2006, 09:30 PM shoot, cant grab them just yet, I decided to sell my 04 Expedition and I need to get rid of it first before I buy anymore "toys" (what my wife calls all mods).... But those would be perfect, I have started doing some searches and those are exactly what I want to get!! I will let you know how it all turns out, but thanks for the heads up  !!
Tamago 01-13-2006, 03:04 PM if you buy them new, try and get closer to 30mm offset.. i'm running 23mm and i love it.
Thirty-Nine 01-17-2006, 04:04 AM Have autocrossed in the past, I understand the usefulness of a smaller wheel. However, I think a 15" wheel might be a bit small for autoxrossing an xB (maybe I'm wrong). It seems like with thexB's height, something a bit bigger might suit the car better. Then again, maybe a 205/50/15 would provide a big enough footprint for the xB to handle really well ...
Thoughts?
Tamago 01-17-2006, 11:54 AM a 205 hoosier will be way more than enough tire for the xB.
Thirty-Nine 01-20-2006, 02:24 PM So I might be picking up a set of 15s for daily use. Do you think a 205/50/15 or 205/55/15 would be a better tire for "spirited" driving? the 55-series tires is closer to the corrext diameter, but the sidewall is obviously taller.
Thoughts?
Tamago 01-20-2006, 10:20 PM i run 205 55 15's... i have no problems with them at all.. i ran 225 50 15 previously, and loved them even more.. a bit of front rubbing on a sharp turn (2.5" drop) but still not that bad..
please don't buy Falken Ziex 512's..
Thirty-Nine 01-21-2006, 12:37 AM I'm on my second set of Ziex 512s and I love 'em. I had them on my Prelude and now on my xB. I don't use them for autocross, just a daily-driver tire.
JSosa 02-06-2006, 02:55 AM i ran today with my xA and i did fakk in the HS category the prob is that with the suspension components that i have, if i add one more thing i get bumped up a class and thats not good!! But here are some pictures:

dexter_5000 02-06-2006, 03:03 AM what are you running for suspension mods?
Tamago 02-08-2006, 03:08 PM u race with NASA ?
neuromonic 03-20-2006, 10:57 PM JSosa, that's a beautiful course you are running on!
As for any auto-x tips, I only have one... I'm in a tc and I like to put my seat back, lock the seatbelt so it stays tight, and then move the seat forward. It's no four-point-harness, but it holds you in the seat reasonably well so you can concentrate on your stearing and pedal controls wihtout having to brace your knees against the door and center console. I don't know if it works on the box, but all the luck to you!
Tamago 03-21-2006, 01:52 AM you can pick up a CG lock for pretty cheap too
