I got quoted 450... And the dealership has never installed them yet. I don't trust them and they are way to high. A performace shop is way cheaper, or just do them yourself

The reason it is so expensive is because of the installation. We charge 169.15 for the springs or $550 installed ($380 for installation). This is because it does take the tech about 5 hours to install them. The one good thing about it is that you will have a full 3 year warranty on them if purchased with the car. If you know someone you can trust to do it right I would have them do it though.

dealerships in ny are charging between $750 and $1000 for spring installation. if i could've gotten it at a dealership for $300, i would've. they've told me 8-12 hours labor. someone did it for me in 2 hours. cost me $80. these service departments at dealerships are ridiculous.

Dealers are rip-offs, don't listen to the guy that says it takes 5 hours to install. They are using a book with industry guidlines that were set for extreme cases if you live in the desert and don't have power tools. I installed (without power tools) a set of sway bars and springs in 5 hours. So the dealer will have your springs installed in less than 2 hours including a couple breaks in between. Dealers are a joke!!!

^^ Agree. My uncle was a tech for mercedes for 20 years, now hes a service advisor For BMW. The stories he tells me are rediclous about the amount of time it ACTUALLY takes to fix something Vs. book guidelines. I was gonna have the dealership do it because of the warranty but my uncle insisted on doing them for me. I would, personally, get someone you trust like posted before, and do it that way. Or just buy the car with them on

Im not sure I appreciate being called a "Joke". Scion sets all the book install times. We have nothing to do with that. If you dont wanna pay dealer prices then go somewhere else. Its your choice. I work very hard to make sure my customers get taken care of from the moment I meet them and all through their ownership experience...

I've done three of these now, and can do a complete changeover in less than two hours.

It would be even faster if I used a lift and didn't have to jack up the whole car and put it on floor stands. An experienced tech who's done more than one of these could easily crank it out perfect in two hours or less.

It's rather dissapointing that dealership's service departments charge so much for such a simple....simple installation... It's really only tough to compress the springs, that's it... everything else is undo and torque back up.

This is similiar to how expensive it is to do a scion ground effects kit. I did mine in two and a half hours and dealers wanted to charge me 500+ to put it on... Another REALLY simple install.

Whether Scion Corporate sets the times, or whatever the situation, such inflated prices just don't make sense to the knowledgable consumer....

As a result, I've installed EVERYTHING on my tC myself.... not the most warranty friendly, but I kissed my warrantee goodbye long ago

I don't think you're being called a joke. Your price seems reasonable. My dealership wanted to charge more that tripple for installation. That's a joke.

Most dealers are jokes. I went to my local dealer, I wont say any names (Paul Miller Toyota/Scion) , to have my front brake pads changed. $345 for front pads and install. I went and bought front and rear ceramics and had them installed at BJs tire center. Total price $150. HAHA....Dealers are ridiculous. BTW, I just moved ton Secaucus, NJ. Anyone, know of any good speed shops up here.
