I've read these boards now for over a month. I've purchaced my Camo, auto, free Sirius hook-up, and all other stock xB. I can't explain how much I love it. It is fun and I'm already listing all the mods and the order I'm going to complete them. :blah:
So, to my questions.....
1) I would like to get a better ride and be more comfotable to & from work (17+ miles). What would be a good spring, shock\strut combo to get a softer ride but still be able to load stuff in the back and not bottom out?
2) If you've had any exposure to Dynamat sound killer, please share what you paid, time for install, and level of difficulty to install.
3) I'm looking into an Alpine or eclipse head unit, Boston Acoustics Tweets & 6.5", and JL Audio 10" Sub. I'm a "quality over quantity" sound guy. I'm not interested in shaking the cars next to me but it wouldn't hurt to be able to share the whole concert experience of my supreme car audio system! :lalala:
Any advice or info would be appreciated. Happy Holidays to all!

So all four springs with only the rear shocks? Will that drop it? I know it is a popular opinion to drop the xB but I don't share that opinion. Thanks.

Stay away from Dynamat or Dynamat Extreme. The very best you can get can be found at Damplifier.com. Talk with Ant about what you want to do and what he recommends. For the best deadening, you are going to need to plan three different types of deadening... barrier, load, and reduction. Use a combination of barrier and reduction on the floor and around the louder parts of the bB (wheel wells, floor etc). Use load and barrier deadening on the doors and near the speakers. SecondSkin sound deadening material will have all the options you need to kill the sound in your bB.

Eclipse over Alpine and Kenwood Exellon way before Alpine. To me, the higher end Kenwood stuff produces much better quality output. If you want to do BA components, keep an eye out for some z6 comps. They are one of my favorites even though I run JL XRs right now. The mids are full and warm and the tweets are not harsh like most of the BA components I've heard. The tweeters are aluminum dome but they rest on a butyl surround similar to JLs titanium tweeters in the XR/ZR lines. For the JL Sub, I would go with a single 12" W6v2 sealed. It will get real deep and clean and pound the snot out of you, but it will not shake the car next to you (unless you want it). Feed the 12W6v2 about 600W RMS, but make sure you amplify the components up front with at least 75W otherwise you will be lost in an ocean of low end bass. Last but not least, don't use an onboard amplifier from the head unit with components, the sound will be cleaner that way.

Try an image dynamics sub. They're less known than the big names like JL and sony, but you get a whole lot of bang (and boom) for your buck.
They get loud, but sound very good at all volumes. I have a 12 and it fills out the low end nicely at normal volumes and shakes the roof at high ones.
