Default TRD Supercharger for xB?

I'm sure that this has been discussed before, but after reading through loads of results from my search and not finding anything....

Anyway, I'm sure that it's old news that TRD is developing a supercharger for the tC that will bring hp to 200. However, are there plans to do the same for the xB?

Well coming from a scion dealer this may sound a bit discouraging. However. I own a 2001 IS300 that is my wife's daily driver. One of the primary reasons that we purchased this was the promise that TRD had made regarding availability of a factory-warrantied supercharger setup.

On the phone with them the "part is being tested, we have a working prototype" after a year this had progressed to "emissions testing for all 50 states is underway, it should be any day now". Two years and the language is "no plans have been made to introduce this product to the US ever".

So. I may mention it to a customer, only if they ask me a question about it first. Keeping in line with the no-BS operating philosophy of Scion however I will be as up front and honest about my own personal experience with TRDs previous "paperware" supercharging systems.

No supercharger, but the new brochure for the tC, xA, and xB talks about a supercharger for the tC and a turbo for the xB.

I was down at the dealer today and we got to talking about this very subject...no supercharger is in the works for the 1.5L, and still no plans on a turbo either. No rumors....nothing. So Scion peeps, take up your pens and DEMAND a power-adder!

You can get it at your local Scion dealer. On the front it has the tC. Its issue 03 winter 2004. If you can't find it let me know, I can scan it and e-mail it to you.

i'm sure you are either kidding or you don't know about a little thing called "turbo lag" that will drive you crazy. the turbo has to be sized to the engine. you can't just throw on the biggest thing that will fit. A/R and exhaust sizing is so important. sorry to get technical.i know this was more of a "i want my supercharger!!" thread.

about the original topic:
to be honest, you saw the results of the blitz supercharger, right? 40hp. well, i think TRD got similar results, and rather than have a bunch of upset customers, they scrapped the project. a turbocharger setup is more work to install, but probably around the same price and will produce more power.

Im really hesitent to pay $3000+ for 40hp... but something like a TD04 would work great as an entry level turbo on these. Boost on most applications wouldn't go over 8psi and on those who do push it would not go over 15psi so a 17g is about the biggest you'd need. Maybe a 13g/13t combo would be just right(dunno haven't seen flow #s yet). For now till I can turn up the boost Ill stick with the juice(if my xb ever gets here).

It does not say they are releasing one, however they show the TRD prototype XB and list the Turbo as a Prototype/ So I would say that's suggesting something.

Wow, you guys need to learn how to use Google.

http://www.trdparts.jp/parts_trdturbo-complete.html

Toyota already has a bB specific turbo kit for *gasp* around $6,000. However, it is the most complete bolt-on kit I've seen.

It has a ball bearing turbo, larger injectors, a reflashed ecu, top mount intercooler with ducting, etc. Unfortunately, the power output is the same as the supercharger kits available at 150ps. Most likely due to a conservitive tune from TRD. These motors aren't exactly built for high boost.

Sadly it's only a TRD Concept/PRototype. It's a SEMA car. It's the Camo xB.

I have seen that kit but it's still not a kit for the XB in my book if they are not selling direct from the dealership. I think someone tried this kit but had issues with the FMU. I guess we will have to keep our fingers crossed and keep hoping.
