Quick question: I have a manual 06 tC, and everytime I hit the gas pedel I hear a "pssssr" type sound. Anytime I hit the gas I hear the sound. It almost sounds like the "psssst" from a turbo, but obviously it's not since my car isn't turbocharged. I did a search and didn't find what I was looking for. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks

I experienced the exact same thing man. I have a 05 tCrs1, but ya everytime I hit the gas I hear it. I think its my TRD exhaust but not sure.

Have you done this with your hood open to see if you can isolate the sound?

Possibly vacuum leak or similiar?

Mine only does it when I initially start my car and start rolling... kinda like a:

"claaakeeeshhhh" sound for a second..

i think he is talking about the infamous whistle sound

If it is, then thats 100% normal

I know the intake whistle, but I thought he searched for a whistle.

Mine sounds like its from the transmission. Only when i start to roll and fully let the clutch out.

gotta love that sound man, my friends were jealous b/c mine sounds at an intake while my car is idle and I just revved my engine plus my car is stock. One of my friends also said that my car sounded so noticeable (air sucking in sound) when i stepped on the gas.

Correct me if I am wrong, but this sound is normal for any N/A tC with a stock intake. The sound occurs due to the design of the factory intake duct. Scion actually meant for this to happen (or was just glad it happened) because it adds to the "sporting character" of the tC.

u know what? i dont think anybody has the answer for real, but everybody likes it so oh well. I heard if you put the intake and exhaust on, it sounds even better.

it is normal and to better explain, it's the sound of the throttle body opening up and the air rushing in.

Girl's question answered (not calling you a girl but...you know ;D ):
My g/f:
Ever since you put that intake thing in that whistling sound is so much louder! I gave a girl a ride across campus today and she stuck her head out the window and said, "how old is your car? Is it supposed to sound like that?"

LoL :P
