 My friends and I have 2006 scion Xbs and we were wondering if the 2006 xb ECU is programed different from the 2005 xb due to the carbon air filter attached to the top of the air filter box and the different vacuum sensor?
We have the K&N air filter and TRD sport muffler that replaces the stock ones and we want a little more out of the engine by putting on the K&N Cold Air Intake. We're asking this because we don't know if this will have any affect on the ECU or anything else on the car.
Any info will be appreciated. Mahalo and Happy New Year.

i really dont think there will be any difference with the intakes in either car. As long as your MAF sensor fits correctly in both models and all the plumbing runs the same, you should be fine.

I have seen claims that the car has a "learning" ECU. One of the reasons its hard to get alot more power out of the engine.

Actually all cars with OBD II are "learning" ECU's. The computer is set up the learn the driving patterns on the driver. But like JSosa said as long as the MAF fits it will work. There is a local guy with an 06' that we sold an AEM c.a.i. to and everything works just fine.

Also search the forum for the YDR short ram intake... I have one on my o6' 6000 miles without any problems, great price, and service.
