RedLine_tC 12-30-2005, 03:49 AM Do IT !!..cuz i want those rims :-D
PrettyniceB 12-30-2005, 04:22 AM This is my mod when its warm. I've been searching on this for the last two weeks. There are plenty threads if you use the search button, I even started on..............which people need to get to posting more one but here. http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=98120&highlight=
and herehttp://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=56815&highlight=
Hyghgynx 12-30-2005, 04:27 AM Do it! Do it! Do it! (Like Starsky & Hutch :P ) If you're going to paint them, seriously look into Powder Coating them. If may cost more, but your rims won't get as jacked up if you just spray painted them.
WeDriveScions 12-30-2005, 04:30 AM It's so tough to paint a rim right, and get a good enough coat that's resilient enough for all that rims are exposed to... I'm for painting the stockies, but the 18's... I'd keep those as is.
PrettyniceB 12-30-2005, 04:57 AM ^^^ dont listen to this guy. Paint em......... the stock ones have a uglyness to em.............I can't explain it, but you understand, that's why everyone gets aftermarket ones instead of those one.........(he he)
Yeah... Do it....Do it!!!! Do it
japtc 12-30-2005, 07:43 PM paint them and the 18s suck i hate the overall design... but all good get the stocks and paint them they look 100% better. spray painting is not as easy as people expect it to be, there is technique and diffrent kinds.. dont go out there buying muli use paint and what not.. but mine have been fine.. no rock chips peeling what not. and theyve been done for awhile.
DaDa_688 12-30-2005, 07:46 PM dont do it....i had mine painted black n im bored of now n i regret it...jus leave them how they are, they look fine.
aarontrini85 12-30-2005, 07:48 PM mine started to peel so i ordered some drag dr13's
i would suggest if you paint to sand the rims first so the paint doesnt have to stick to the gloss stuff thats on the rims now
japtc 12-30-2005, 07:58 PM if your gonna sand use wetsand paper... like atleast 1500 grit. that or before you spray do what i did and use like a caliper degreaser... it works great and leaves a good surface to bond with the paint.

lukkytoodye 12-31-2005, 03:59 PM those look frickn awsome what kind of paint did you use i wanted to do the same thing with mine.
japtc 12-31-2005, 07:33 PM high compound spray paint.. ask any person in the paint department. all it is, is a paint that gose on in thicker coats making it a more durable surface.
PrettyniceB 12-31-2005, 08:18 PM Hmmm.............this is what i was asking for. Ya gotta admit. Its nice......................ESPECIALLY vs. Ah G for a new set?
RAMROD7 12-31-2005, 09:06 PM I was thinking of something like that today, but with the spokes painted all the way to the end. Great job!
chubster41 01-01-2006, 12:39 AM like this?

PrettyniceB 01-01-2006, 06:57 PM yeah post it. Cause I found that persons car, and its the whole wheel, I'm like nah................. I just want it further... Post it, you know what we're talking about. The red caliper one is nice though,,,again. But I was going to paint it a little different

japtc 01-01-2006, 11:08 PM heres photoshopped all the way to the lip, i had this done before i did mine so i could get a refrence of what it would look like.. but i think i like mine better.. but its all personal opinion here ya go!

RAMROD7 01-01-2006, 11:45 PM Yeah, your's looks better. I read you cut your springs (other thred), can you tell me how I can do this?
PrettyniceB 01-02-2006, 02:22 AM I not sure which one looks better, I have to check back tomorrow............maybe we should start a poll on the two different versions of the rims...............cause I'm interested in doing this......and I know others r 2
PrettyniceB 01-02-2006, 02:52 AM since this photo is chopped. It doesn't have the lugs silver color, which makes the rim look right anyway.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y149/akira512/Black.jpg
boone82 01-02-2006, 04:41 AM I painted my rims and had a small post about them. You can check it out here: http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=94144&highlight=
Mine look a little different than most I've seen on here. Just another idea. Don't pay attention to the center caps. i wasn't finished with them, but I wanted them on for the picture.
PrettyniceB 01-02-2006, 04:53 AM Hey...........Thank you!!!!!

xxscoobiixx 01-06-2006, 04:31 PM Hey can anyone photoshop what the rims would look like gold i dont have the photo shop program....
aarontrini85 01-06-2006, 04:42 PM just look at the pick of my car in my profile
xxscoobiixx 01-06-2006, 05:51 PM those look real clean on urs did you DIY? if yes or no can i get some info ? like what did u use or pricing blah blah i wanna do that to my rims too i got me a super white 8)
xxscoobiixx 01-06-2006, 05:56 PM OFF TOPIC
Can someone tell me why i can't change squat in my profile? I have stuff i wanna change darn it.
aarontrini85 01-06-2006, 06:50 PM it was dupont gold wheel paint and i washed them good before i started but my issue was it was like 35F when i painted them so it has chipped off so i decided to buy some rims insted
but if you do it sand them lightly and them wash them realy good then pain and clear them and they should stick good
PrettyniceB 01-07-2006, 05:39 PM guess I wont be attempting to get out a spray paint in this weather............... its like 39F on warm days............... Darn it
japtc 01-07-2006, 08:56 PM u can still paint in that weather.. do it in your garage and use a floor heater and some heat lamps and it will cure fine.. just wet sand barely and then rinse with break cleaner or alchohal. make sure your paint (if using rattle cans *spraypaint*) is at room temp and really cold.
PrettyniceB 01-26-2006, 06:22 PM So KICKAS$ did you paint your rims or not? The original person of the post?
xxscoobiixx 01-31-2006, 01:29 PM Didn't mean to thread jack or anything i was just wondering. Tried to take it to my buddy at the dealers he said the paints going to crack so i had to return it.... Still wanting to though
japtc 01-31-2006, 06:13 PM paint wont crack if you do it right, the majority of people out there cant spray paint if their life depended on it. if done right the paint will work great.. of course over time the only thing that will happen is fade slightly.. just like car paint. but cracking and the heat problem should be no worry, unless your brakiing soooo much that its causing your rim to reach equal temps of your break calipers? witch i hope not. so just research tips on spraypaint-ing and make sure the surface is very clean and i suggest not sanding becasue most people cant get that one right either and they get a very messed up out come, ex:bubbles, lines, runs. but other than that it should be fine!
japtc 01-31-2006, 06:16 PM http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y149/akira512/scion1.jpg
several thousand miles and not one chip, bubble, crack ect. two coats black one coat clear. thats all.

 That looks nice. I was thinking about PC my wheels Bronze or Gold maybe...but im not sure how they would come out. On a side note how do you like the S-tech springs, do you scrape on driveways or Speed Bumps much?
PrettyniceB 02-03-2006, 04:11 AM ^^^ Previous page^^^
side note????? (sounds like a high jack) :tap: do a "Use a search..." Well this thread has been so Jacked in general, Never Mind
Here is a thread about springs, that's jack for painting rims. http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=94144&postdays=0&postorder=asc&&start=0
You are already on the post about rims......about to be jacked for springs I suppose?[/url]
Tampa_tC 02-03-2006, 05:08 PM the powdercoating worked great and looks great as well...it leaves the wheel with the "wet" look.....and btw i love the S-techs even though i scrape everywhere
japtc 02-04-2006, 04:51 AM sheit you think s-techs are low?? lol just wait till my projects done...hopefully i will be on the ground !!! =D

I was asking him about the Wheels and saw that he also had the Tein S-Tech springs, the set-up im looking at, so i thought while i was asking why not ask about the Springs as well. Not a Hi-Jack just a Side Question. :loser:
