Default Hotchkis Front Sway

Who has it installed? (If so, how's the oversteer?)
How did you do it?

I know its going to be a pain, but the only way I can vision it being installed is to drop the front sub-frame. And that is just ridiculous!

Any help is appreciated.

BTW:
Don't give me any "use the search" ____. I would have to prune though hundreds (maybe thousands) of posts relating to hotchkis sways.

PM Apexjr.... I believe he installed them both himself and should be able to give you good feedback on the front and back setups...

I'm an oversteer hater, so I shy away from front sways on FWD setups...

Just follow the instructions they sent ya...or did ya not get any?
Either way....its a pain, even for an experienced DIY'er
I guess by sub frame you mean the steering cradle? aka the cross member?
The answer is, yes....it needs to be unbolted and droped about 2 inches to shimmy the bar thru.
Im sorry, I dont mean to give ya the bad news...but it is a HELL of a pain in the ___

Yeah I agree. I did them both myself too and it was a job and a half. If you going to go for it get a buddy to help out.

The front swaybar will actaully reduce oversteer. When paired with the proper rear bar you will have a nice balance. A stiffer rear bar will induce oversteer while a stiffer front bar will induce understeer or push.

As long as you dont set the rear bar too stiff you wont get much if any oversteer..unless you try reall hard.

I have them installed and it was a pain in the @$$ the front sway because you do have to lower the front sub frame in order to install, but the after result they are well worth it because it gives a very good handling of the car.

You dont have to remove the all the cradle its easier if you dont. I did mine by myself. Just take your time and keep your cool.

First take wheels off and take links completely off to keep out of way. Then you can get to the front bushing bolts on both sides. i used a 1/4"drive ratchet played around w/extensions and reg & deep well sockets. Put wheel back on. Follow steps 3 & 4 in the instuctions. Skip 5,6, & 7. All U have to do is drop your car down on ramps to take the pressure off the steering linkage. the cradle will drop down low enough to remove the back bushing bolts. i used a wrench and 1/4" ratchet again. You may tug down on the cradle a little to get it to drop down enough. It doesnt take much. On the driver side there is a bracket with lines, i removed the bracket to move it up just a little. be careful not to tug on the powers steering hose on the passenger side when removing the sway bar. The new one goes in 10 times easier than the old one comes out. you just have to snake out old sway. study the curves.

i jacked the cradle back up in place and all my bolts started w/fingers w/no problems at all.

The mechanic that installed my rear hotchkis sway bar told me that he needed to lift up the engine just to install the front so i just got the rear installed since he asking too much for the front.
