View Full Version : Was it wrong to contact Scion Customer Service? Update 7/06
WheelSee 04-23-2004, 02:39 PM So here it is three weeks later and still my car hasn't been touched..."Still waiting on parts" so I called Scion Corporate...not so much to complain about the dealership...but just to find out why it was taking so long to get parts for the darn thing...and I've said don't worry right now about getting the painted parts replaced now...I just want the thing driveable...they took down every bit of information they could about the accident and said they would contact the dealer and get back to me within two business days...was this wrong?

deathcabforme 04-23-2004, 04:04 PM I have had a reason to call them every day since I owned my car. Just got a new motor, went in the shop Wednesday cause it was really hard to start they cleared the ecu code and said it was fine. Went to start it this morning and it wouldnt start cranks over but wont start. Im waiting for a tow truck right now. Good thing the dealer is atleast paying for that. A few more days and I get to lemon law it so I dont mind.
scionmag 04-23-2004, 04:13 PM I think it was a great thing you called customer service. They can light a fire under the dealerships butt and get them moving... keep us posted!
deathcabforme 04-23-2004, 04:21 PM Customer service was a bunch of _______s the first time I called to be honest.
fr130 04-23-2004, 04:32 PM No way was it wrong. I called CS about that front engine noise. I haven't called them back and told them what the dealership did to eliminate the issue. I'll call em eventually after the fact that the service people did not want to fix the warm A/C issue. It's a simple task. I dont have a PDF of the TSB.
Ahem, Russel Toyota/Scion service rocks :D Not sure what's really going on with Antwerpen, they used to be good. :?
scionmilktruck 04-23-2004, 05:03 PM Call anyone that will listen. Maybe you will get some free crap from Toyota :D
Yes you should call.
I'd be calling bugging the &*#$ out of them everyday!!1
iamslow 04-23-2004, 06:40 PM I say you did the right thing.
ikhonlord 04-23-2004, 07:04 PM I also agree with everyone in saying that you should have contact them. Three weeks is just not acceptable specially if you dealer has BS you this past weeks!
Customer Service will definitely take care of you!

I just got off the phone with someone at antwerpen and they said they are waiting for a strut and they said the date it would be in would be May 28th...which would be two months from when I originally bought the car...and my total time with the car is 4 days...

Max2k 04-23-2004, 08:56 PM What the hell is that? Call up scion corporate; dealers shouldn't be able to jerk you around like that. It's time the novel concept of "customer service" came to car dealerships everywhere!
WheelSee 04-26-2004, 09:50 PM Update...
Well apparently the squeaky wheel gets the grease....so after my call to Scion Corp. I get a call from customer relations person at my dealership letting me know they were waiting on one part which was backorderd til the 28th...well after hearing this I give a call to Rudy in the Parts Dept at Champion Scion in Austin, TX....he didn't have it but was nice enough to check in a database(my question is do all parts departments have this capability?) and found a dealership in NJ that had it...it was a "takeoff".....well by this time it is now Saturday morning...well no one was around that could make any decision so I leave my name and try to have my advisor call me...Monday rolls around still nothing several calls go unanswered...so I call Aaron back at Corp. which is noon my time...he was out researching my delay...so he calls me back at around 2 and I let him know that the dealership in NJ has this part...well finally with that news things start moving again...at around 4:45 today I get a call from the Consumer Relations Maanger at my Dealership to let me know that my part is being shipped from NJ and I should have my Lava back by this weekend!!!!!
WOOOOOOOHOOO!
:D :D :D :D :D :D

ikhonlord 04-27-2004, 03:21 AM I am very happy that everything is working out for you.
I have been very fortunate that my whole Scion experience has been great and haven't had any reason to contact Scion Customer service but from everything I have heard they are great bunch of guys!
Keep us posted with all the details....and to answer your original question....NOOO it was not a mistake.
xBSciontist 04-27-2004, 03:24 AM Hey, I like the logo. But, may I ask what "RG" stands for?
fr130 04-27-2004, 03:28 AM Woohoo, finally :D Let's hope the installation goes well. Saw two TCM's/ possible 2 or 1 BSP, but no Hot Lava's cruising Howard County, hope that will change soon. :D 8)

Antwerpen are A-Holes in my opinion, just worried about selling the vehicles and forget about the service !

WheelSee 05-01-2004, 02:26 AM And now the latest update in As The Box Turns:
Well earlier in the week I had gotten a call from the dealer saying it will be done by the weekend...so I was pumped...after not having a box for the past month...well today at about 2:30 I get a call from my dealer informing me that he's missing a part(Spindle Hub & Bearing(which is listed seperately on my estimate)) and it's going to need a new axle(which my insurance intialy rejected(the only thing I was told was rejected was a Power Steering Rack)) and of course both parts are on back order :( the one nice thing I did get from Scion Customer Service was permission for rental car reimbursement(up to $30/day) however my current budget constraints are such that I can't afford to be without the money for two weeks waiting for reimbursement...no word on how long the backorder will be for...but I know it doesn't take that long for a plane to fly from Japan to the US  ...we'll see how it goes next week when I get a firm update on the backorder...
~WC
Still Lavaless
dude, stop scaring me, my babys been in the shop a month too, backorders
WheelSee 05-10-2004, 05:30 AM Week 5 has started now...I have a loaner from another dealer that I will have to pay for and be reimbursed from Scion...went to look at it today and see if they had done any work(they hadn't) and when I get to the back of it I notice that hey there is a bunch of crap in there...so I look in and sure enough there is the cross member lying in the trunk...so I go around to the side open it up and there is just random parts thrown all over my interior... I was furious...unfortunately when I found this the dealership was closed(sunday hours)...I went back and took pictures this evening...
am i out of line to be this upset about the parts just thrown all over?

oh man
i got my car back this past saturday
doesn't drive well at high speed, massive vibration
they damaged my custom LCD, wires haning underneath the day, very ghetto and unprofessional IMO
i'm going to call them and get things corrected
goodluck on yours
fr130 05-11-2004, 01:39 AM WillC, asked Scion Corp if they can tow the Box from Antwerpen to Russell. Closer to your place. Show Scion Corp the pictures. That's just sad.
ANd no, I dont work for Russell.
And post pics here too.

No, you're not out of line at all. Did they at least put some plastic or paper under the parts? If not, document everything. Also -- and this goes for anyone in contact with Scion Corporate -- try to get the e-mail address of your customer specialist. If you do, send them pictures of the parts in your vehicle and a note that if the interior is damaged, you'll expect that they replace the damaged interior parts as well.
What a bunch of rank amateurs some of these dealers employ... :(
shop people through the parts in the interior always. thats how they know that part either came off of that car or goes into the car. :( shady but tis their practice.
WheelSee 05-11-2004, 08:48 PM shop people through the parts in the interior always. thats how they know that part either came off of that car or goes into the car. :( shady but tis their practice.
that may be but they should still put a piece of plastic under them...I mean I'm talking about a brand new car with less than 500 miles on it...the cross member is sitting in the back up against the seats kinda precariously...and there are what appears to be dirty fender liners on the back seat...
~wC
yeh i understand the sentiment, im not trying to defend them just saying thats their practice.

WheelSee 05-13-2004, 10:15 PM Well I can see the light at the end of the tunnel...I get a call today, not from my dealership, but from Aaron at Scion Corp. letting me know that my repairs were completed last night(would have been great to hear that this morning from the dealer instead of at 4:15 this afternoon). The bad news to it is twofold....one) there is a side skirt that still needs to be replaced but won't be in til next week(not a problem I said don't hold it up for anything cosmetic) but two) they never called my insurance adjuster for the additional costs(something they said they would do two weeks ago) so now I'm stuck waiting to see if they will let me ride off the lot with just paying what was initaially apporved and then waiting for the additional check to come in.
All in all the takeaway here is Antwerpen Scion in Clarksville, MD has a poorly run service department and policies that kind of run against what Scion is trying to do for Toyota and that is to bring some youth into their radar. I still don't understand how I can buy a 15,000 dollar car from them but they can't loan me a car when they mismanage the repair and don't order parts that are listed on the estimate(both theirs and the adjusters). The car will have been in their posession for 6 weeks tomorrow.

One word "Horrible"
R0X0R 07-06-2004, 09:03 PM That stinks. Keep complaining to the customer service department so maybe this won't happen to other people.
If they're doing this to you then it's happening to other people too.
And you got a Hot Lava! You think they'd be a little more appreciative of someone who got one of their "select" cars. F$#$ that dealer.
Just shows you, don't ever get an extended warranty, they can't even handle a regular one.
