It's a greeting.....like in the animal kingdom when monkeys yell at each other to try to intimidate and show dominance.
You sould have made them pull over and beat them down to show you are the dominant one. :come:

Na, no beat downs, no poo slingin.
It just seems like looking over an reving the engine etc... is sort of a meat head thing to do when you know I drive a car that puts out 108hp. I'm not saying I am angry about it, it just seems a little rediculous.

Haha, that's funny......a race car xB....
Some people....
What did that xB do in the quarter and how much did you invest to get those incredible #'s?
I don't mean to sound like I'm hating but it just seems like a pointless investment.
I don't want to statr one of those bashing threads to go easy on the response chief!

By no means was my car a race car nor did I consider it...I am a motor junky and enjoy putting turbo's on anything...regardless of what it looks like or how much it costs. My intentions of owning the xB was to have fun with it and believe me I really did have a lot of fun. I never brought my car to the track for 2 reasons...1) The closest track to me is Englishtown NJ wich is 2 1/2 hours away from me...and 2) As stated above...I did not consider my car fast, nor a racecar. Now that I have sold the xB, I moved on and bought a tC...which I just supercharged...time to have lots of fun with that now (aint a racecar either). I still miss my xB purely for the fact that it shocked a lot of people...theres nothing like seeing someones face after they got pulled on hard by a box :lalala: :P

No hard feelings :silly:

You think that's bad, I get challenged at least once a month by mustangs.
When I was working at a Honda Dealership, some guy came in a wanted to know who drove my box that was outside. I said I did and he threw down $1000 and told me he wanted to race. I went look at his car. He was in a 6 cyl 3000GT S/C with juice and a whole bunch of other hop ups. Everybody laughed him out of the dealership because he wanted to race me. I haven't seen him since.

Now if you have the knowledge to piece together your own turbo kit and you do all of the work yourself I can totally respec that. But to pay $3,500 + $800 or so for installation to gain 50hp is ridiculous!

I totally agree, but like I said....if homeboy did all the work I gotta give him props. You of all people can respect people doing their own work on their rides.

You do have to take into consideration that adding 50hp o a vehicle that only way 3,500 lbs is alot.

lets be fair here. how do you know they wanted to race? maybe they are just saying hi. i'll beep the horn a little, flash my lights, or sometimes rev it a little bit, just saying hi, and give a little wave

Your quarter mile time dropped from 17.10 to 16?

Your 0 to 60 time dropped from 9.7 to 8 seconds?
xB and fast do not mix....it's like putting tobasco sauce with your waffles.....

I race everything I can in my xB. And by race I mean not race. Trying to beat people in an xB is like trying to convince Honda people Fast and the Furious was a horrible movie... POINTLESS!

I think it like a compliment when it comes from non-Scions. They are unsure of what they are dealing with. And its a 2400 lb car, not 3500. A little bump goes a long way.

I know my car isn't fast nor a racecar, but it surprises the peeps that think they don't need to do anything and they'll just roll past me. You gotta work for it. I hear a lot of cars gunning their engines harder after I take off. It reminds me of driving my uncle's V-6 VW bus. It's totally stealthy, just looks like a camper van with ground effects. The radiator was placed on the front with a rounded face and a mesh cover that made it look like a typical spare tire for a bus. Driving to Lake County there are lots of 2-lane roads and people would freak out thinking they need to pass this VW or get stuck behind it the whole way. It was so funny to be beating them up the hills...

Anyway, I could see it being another way to say Hi. When I use my horn, I rarely get the attention of the person I'm honking at, it's always someone else going WTF are you honking about...

I would just Rev back at them. Doesn't mean you want to race and if they think it does, just let them do it, drive the way you normally do and they'll look like the fools picking on the little guy.

I guess I didn't really think of it like they were saying hi. I mean I glanced over an one dude didn't even look, and I gave a friendly nod to the other guy and he didn't do anything and sped off. Not sure i'm buying the friendly thing, but good to know for future reference I guess.
