Default Oregon car laws that went into effect 01-01-06

Over 100 mhp..... 1000.00 ticket... no questions asked.

NO video screens (tv's) viewable from the drivers seat.. don't remember the fine on this one. I was still reeling over the 1k ticket for over 100mph.

saw it on the news yestday.

I'm actually glad to hear about the law for 100+

There is NEVER a need to go over 100mph... Well, if you're running from cops, but... then you already have yourself in a world of **** so deep I think a $1000 fine is the least of your worries.

And to the poster directly above me, how does it make it hard for showy cars? Eclipse and a couple others make the one that goes completely flush. And the tC even has the cover. IF you're obeying the law and not driving with a movie playing, there's really no reason you couldn't have the cover down... right?

And if it's a case of "Well it's a live performance dvd" CLose the cover... it's still music...

Overall I think this is really a case of "If you're not doing anything wrong, what's the problem?

CarPC's.... They have animation and all that jazz.... I just don't want to be hassled any more than neccesary and with a car pc setup... just easier for them to give me a little more trouble over something.... I'm not a big fan of distracted driving, but I'm also not a big fan of more and more limits on what we can or cannot do to our cars.....

Just wait for OARB. (Oregon Air Resource Board) - They're already talking about it.... Bye Bye Modifications.

here is the link... Want to talk BS!!.... and double standard !!..

it's okay to have a nav system, but if a cop deems your cd player to be distracting, you get a big ole ticket.

Don't worry Washington will get it too. As soon as Gregware and her
crownies here there is another way to make money we will get the laws
here. Just another form of government control for profeit.

My monitor doesn't have a cover. And even when I listen to the just the radio, it still has a little animation on it and shines bright blue. In Washington it is a little different...you can't have a movie playing on any screen that is more forward than the back of the front seats.

I'm not too worried about it. I rarely watch a movie anyway when I am driving. And if I do, it's a concert movie anyway...so I'm not really watching it.

Kind of OT...but I also heard that they lowered the speed limit on I-5 between Portland and Tumwater/Olympia to 60, instead of 70.

EDIT: Maybe I heard this wrong, the only info I could find online is here:

http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/Regions/Sout...I-5LewisCo.htm

Looks like its just a few miles that are reduced to 60, near the Chehalis/Centralia area.

you can talk to just about any law enforcement official and they'll say the same thing.

MR2.... That'd be incredibly depressing.... that 70 MPH area better not go away...

Just wait till Washington and Oregon adopt the California CARB standards... Then the fun begins.

Yeah, that's weak. I'm sure the Navi companies lobbied on that one. I've seen way too many "drivers" staring at the Navi instead of the road...

I'm a WMRRA/OMRRA Novice for 2006. I've been on all the local tracks @ open track days. You think 140 is fun...try 170 down the back arching straight of PIR. ;)

Which school does he teach at?

MV. DROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!!!!

Holy ____, your wife's uncle is Lance Keigwin? :o

We go down to Cali/NV to ride their track days. We are well known as the "Seattle group" since we travel further than anyone to go to their days.

Wow....what a small world.

Pretty cool, huh.... he's a REALLY nice guy... Linda was so great to us when we stayed down there... She took a killer spill a while back....

Ever meet Coco?

Here's some pics....

Yeah, most of the hard core bike guys know him, as he's got a great rep.... He got me into biking, until I took a random spill on the scenic highway in a sand washout... I had a nice SV650.... and a good right knee... emphasis on Had [/img]

Yeah, I know his wife too. She is super nice and pretty fast. :o

Yeah, we heard about what happened to his wife. She was taken out by a rider at Thunderhill doing something "questionable". All I know is Lance wasn't very happy about it.

Their rig is PIMP!!! That motorhome is tricked out. I would kill to have that thing. 4 bikes in the back. It's nuts.

Sorry to hear about your getoff. SV650 is a great machine and a nice twin class for the track. Since it is naked, its cheap as hell to race it too.

Man, Lance's garage is SICK! I wannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnt!

I used to ride an RC51 from San Bernadino to LA in the am and back in the PM..... what a fun ride that was.

I had my Harley up to 110 on the straightaway at PIR. I was wearing a tshirt and a little skull helmet. I decided i was pushing my luck.

Back on topic.....
I have never had any problems with my screen in my car. Then again, I don;t attrtact a lot of attention the way I drive(read: like an old lady). But my XM radio screen is really bright. I guess we'll see.
