Default CAI and Thermowrap?

This has been an ongoing debate on the forums I have been on. I'm getting an Injen CAI in the near future. Would thermowrapping, or exhaust wrapping my intake net better gains? Technically it would prevent heat soak but would it make that much of a difference? Let me know what you think...

It's a little involved to pay upwards of $75 for a set of 3 dynos... one baseline with CAI, and then one with CAI + wrap, and the other ... whatever...

I wrapped the stock upper piping, and heatsoak is basically non-existent during normal circumstances. In terms of horsepower gains, I dont think you're going to see much... maybe 1-2 HP, that can be attributed to anything else in the environment.

Do it for the heatsoak. You're gonna see a lot of it with that metal piping.

For the ratio of Looks and Work Involved to the wanted effect.... I don't think it'd be worth it at all... there is only a small amount of soak when actually running on the road... only a few degrees really. I just compare my OBDII intake temp reading to the outside temperature and it's not off an amount that would even come close to effecting performance.

It won't look good, no matter what you do. To me, it doesnt matter what it looks like, as long as it goes like hell. (Exceptions, of course.)

Mine looks pretty terrible, but I feel that it gets the job done. If its even a placebo, and not doing anything, then i've only lost $9 and 20 minutes. Can't hurt.

if u wrap an intake, u would also have to wrap the custom header when u get 1. other wise your priorities will look jacked up.

I'm thinking about finding a way to put the heatshield back on after I install the megan header this weekend.

I dont want to wrap the header due to cracking issues. The header needs to be able to vent heat.

I'm just curious, what is the typical "under the hood" temp in a tC vs. outside temp on any given day?
