View Full Version : I want a sunroof so bad!
CamoxBInSC 04-26-2004, 12:05 AM I have 2 questions for all yall sunroofers out there. I want a sunroof in my xB so bad. I am going ot have to save up to get one. How long will it take to put one in and what is the approximate cost( for the sunroof and installation) for a sunroof that tilts as well as fully retracts into the headliner? Thanks
Steve-o
CamoxBInSC 04-27-2004, 12:05 AM well let me rephrase my question maybe I can get a response. How much have you paid for a sunroof (for the sunroof and installation) and what does your sunroof do?
xB_ey 04-27-2004, 12:23 AM out here in cali they run any where from $1200 to $1700 on the high end. if you want something less expensive, go with a pop up only sunroof. you'll pay more for other features like auto slide, pop up, auto open-close, etc. i wanted one too and the dealer was going to charge me $1200 for it with all the features. i didnt do it though.
good luck!

ahurdl01 04-27-2004, 02:12 PM I was looking at one for my old car for a while, and the cost to have a place that does it is around 800- 1000 for a really nice one. If you have the dealer do it, which they most of the time dont and just send it off, they are just going to get pure profit for nothing off your car. You pay 1600, they send the car to the place that does it and pay 800, they pocket 800. call around, some of the better stereo places do it
mgmlot93 04-27-2004, 02:38 PM The going rate here (at a reputable shop) is about 1300.00 and they have your vehicle for 2 days. I am still trying to decide whether to have it done or not also. It would be nice, but that's alot of $$ for someone who lives where the weather is only good half the time (or less)!!
xCube 04-27-2004, 04:39 PM My Scion dealer has installed one in an xb and it seemed small to me. I would like a big roof close to the size of the one you would see in a Mitsubishi Montereo. xb has a long roof so why not put something a little big. I wonder if they come a bit bigger than the one on that HOT Lava posted on this thread.
DoNuT 04-27-2004, 04:42 PM Do all these prices apply to an xA sunroof as well? I am interested in getting one for my xA
xBMojo 04-30-2004, 02:01 AM My Scion of Waldorf dealer offered the sunroof for $1200.00 install as a dealer option. The xB was with the dealer (or sub-contractor) for about 1.5 days. Well worth the wait! Super job!
I'll post pics later.
Al-Truistic 04-30-2004, 02:12 AM So, where are some pics?
$800.00 from a Santa Monica shop sounds to good to be true for that area! Can you say who and where specifically? Thanks!

Andy did it for me. $811 for me... I dont have pics at the time but its a compleate automatic with the tilt ability. and it opens full. Works great. Its the same kind thats in toyota land cruisers and toytoa sienna's. No complaints here
that sunroof looks awesome, i plan on getting one was well but i'll probably end up with the lift up moonroof or sumfin... or maybe a removable top that i could throw in the back... sorta liek T tops but just were the sunroof is LOL.
