View Full Version : They're Painted. What Do You Think? Finished Pics
bB2NER 01-08-2006, 07:49 PM Got my old wheels painted today and I feel they turned out better than expected. They were white powdercoated and had to strip them down to bare metal first. I don't know what was harder. Let Me know what y'all think. Thanks!

hotbox05 01-08-2006, 08:01 PM looks ok. you can tell they were garage painted. but looks better than white wheels.
bB2NER 01-08-2006, 08:05 PM The pics aren't the greatest but they were painted with basecoat/ clearcoat BSP
Underhill 01-08-2006, 08:18 PM Looks pretty good to me...
TheScionicMan 01-08-2006, 08:26 PM The holes are all crooked... j/k Looks pretty good, need to see them mounted tho.
FrankenScion 01-08-2006, 08:54 PM They look great so far, I agree that we need to see them mounted first though.
bB2NER 01-08-2006, 09:01 PM Thanks for all the kind words. They look awsome in the sunlight. I can't wait but gonna wait a couple weeks for the paint to cure real good before I try to mount the new Kumhos on them.
I think they look outstanding, but isn't the paint going to crack & shatter when they stick that pry bar inbetween the rim & the tire when mounting ?
I hope not, that would be alot of hard work down the drain
bB2NER 01-08-2006, 09:05 PM Nope cause they use the touchless mounting and alot of lube. The only part of the wheel that gets touched during the mounting is the underneath of the upper lip. The piece that does touch is hard plastic. They got screwed up while taking off the tires originally because it wasn't set up right. The clear has hardner in it so I sould be safe.
Sweet, they get a thumbs up from me then. Good Job
Post some mounted pics when you get them on.
bB2NER 01-08-2006, 09:31 PM  Will do. I'm gonna post them up with the new springs mounted also. Looking forward to the drop.
PS I'm also losing the red drums and calipers for something darker. Any suggestions for the colors of those pieces are welcomed. :tap:
bB_Widow 01-08-2006, 09:37 PM He forgot to mention that I helped him paint those wheels :eyebrow:
Sam_J84 01-08-2006, 10:11 PM lets see them on the car
kloquewerk 01-08-2006, 10:40 PM looks good. now reposition those holes j/k
bB2NER 01-08-2006, 11:11 PM I prolly should have had the holes I wasn't using welded up. LOL Thanks!
HondaKiller 01-08-2006, 11:24 PM not bad dude...an all black lip would have looked nice
bB2NER 01-10-2006, 09:25 AM I thought about doing that but didn't want the wheels blending in too much with the tires. I almost polished the lip but didn't like the look for these wheels considering there isn't much lip. Thanks!
stick_1NZ 01-10-2006, 01:18 PM mount it first then i'll tell you what i think. :P
lppro-xb 01-10-2006, 02:02 PM wow you painted those in your garage! looks sweet! poast pics of them mounted!
bB2NER 01-10-2006, 07:05 PM Thanks for the props. Will post up picks when all the mods are done and the wheels are mounted
BTW I've done several showcar paint jobs in a garage with great results. Spaybooths are over rated in my opinion. :P
Educatedthug 01-11-2006, 02:01 AM They look good.. Lets see them on.....whats to keep them from chipping??
bB2NER 01-11-2006, 02:11 AM I'm sure I'll get some chipping. I got some even with the powdercoating. Thats why I have 1 cup of touch up left over.
Overall it should'nt be a problem. Plus they only need to last a couple years till I replace them with the latest style wheels. LOL
