View Full Version : 1/2 way through Blitz SC install
Baine 01-09-2006, 01:58 PM Having a major problem with the alternator hitting the AC lines that run up the back
side of the radiator. There just isn't enough room and the AC lines don't have any
give. I'm afraid I might break a weld or kink a tube if a push too hard. Also the fact
that my directions refer to nuts and bolts by numbers yet the parts list has left the
numbers off is making things nearly impossible. I having to guess which bolts go
where. The directions say things like "remove bolt as shown in picture" and the
picture is of such a poor quality that you can't tell what your looking at, or there
are 10 bolts in the picture and no reference arrow. I haven't started the electrical
yet, am I going to have the same problem? Where are you Blitz powered xB's
locating your switch? I'm thinking on the center cover under the dash.
Any suggestions?
hip_2b_sqr 01-09-2006, 03:16 PM Baine, Titan Motorsports is doing my install and they ran into the same problem. You will need to have a new ac line made! no way around it. I should get my XB back today or tuesday. Will post pictures then.
zoltiz 01-09-2006, 03:38 PM Finally, Ducky!
Any way to call Blitz reps or something?
sciondude410 01-09-2006, 03:45 PM Do you both have automatics? I think I remember reading something about the automatics having a differently routed ac line due to the transmission.
Mike

Mike
Mine is a 5-speed. The Blitz instructions show a BB without air so there are no conflicts.
They directions go on to say that on the US cars you may need to bend the AC tube
out of the way. That is total BS it doesn't move at all. The SC is installed but is touching
the AC tubing for now. I still need to hook up the piping and the electronics. You need to
have Alien like fingers to get to some of the intake header bolts. This install is very cramped.
jrincon17 01-09-2006, 05:40 PM anyone get it done yet , how is the horsepower now ? got any pics .
zoltiz 01-09-2006, 06:12 PM Putting some sort of thick vibration/heat insulation betweeen the AC piping and the SC body won't help?
Baine 01-09-2006, 07:24 PM I'll take pics tonight. not sure if it will be running though. maybe tomorrow
hip_2b_sqr 01-10-2006, 03:14 AM I got mine back tonight, but didn't have time to take pictures before dark. I will post some soon. Titan suggested that I use only 93 oct. fuel from now on. Something about detonation or something, so I have the sc turned off untill I can burn off this cheap 87 oct. tank full. (all night cruise). I can see where they had new ac line made, looks like it made things cleaner. Let me know if you need a clear picture of some area.
My instructions were in jap., can you explain about the low-med-high settings and how they work?

Can't wait for a long drive this weekend.
Xbilly 01-11-2006, 08:32 PM Looks great!
Spr0ket 01-11-2006, 11:15 PM Damn that's a sweet setup. I wonder what the WHP is with that setup. Get'r dyno'd

Boxer_Rebellion 01-12-2006, 01:47 PM Damn those are both kiler.
mikochu 01-12-2006, 02:01 PM I think if it's on 100%, it'll only kick in if the pedal is pressed "100%" (WOT). Try 50%...it should kick in half way.

Barry, I want a ride! :D
mavrichie 01-12-2006, 02:32 PM Both of the SC set ups look great. Congrats...
hip_2b_sqr 01-12-2006, 03:12 PM Baine, that looks hot! Very nice detail work.
Mike, had a chance to drive around a little tonight. The low-med-high settings correspondes to pedal effort:
low - the sc will kick in at low pedal effort (lots)
med - the sc will kick in with moderate effort (take offs and acceling)
high - the sc will kick in only when you stomp it.
And yes you do need to take it for a drive.

Ah...that's good to know about the low/med/high settings... Also, I'll be sure to make it to the next Courtesy Scion meet :P

^^^Looking good Baine!!!!!!!

Is that powder coat, or paint?
I'm jealous!
Baine 01-12-2006, 05:23 PM It's powder. I got a friend that did it for free. He also did my S-techs springs and my
GT-spec frame brace. I had already painted my front and rear sway bars before he
told me he could powdercoat. The color not exactly the same, but it's close enough
for free.
squirrel 01-12-2006, 05:34 PM I'm not picky, I think it looks great! And as long as you do, that's all that matters!
eight08customs 01-13-2006, 05:57 AM look awsome i wish i had a SC
C2AUTOSPL 01-13-2006, 06:54 AM thats badass Baine!1
xBtuner 01-14-2006, 04:54 PM I had a problem with my AC line, but finally bent it enough out of the way and tied it down that it has not caused a problem at all. I have had my S/C for about 6 months now.
I love the polished S/C and the Powder coating. I wish I had gotten mine polished. Looks very clean, mine looks all dirty now lol.
Baine 01-15-2006, 03:11 AM Ok, here's the current progress report on the SC. IT LIVES. Now for the bad part. I
got everything worked out and put back together. Started her up for the first time, and
the engine runs. The problem is I got no interior Accessories power. No gauges, lights,
signals, radio, brake lights, windows or locks. I do have head lights and high beams.
I do have a dome light. So, what did I knock loose or fuse did I pop. I checked all the
fuses that I can find both inside and in the engine. They all looked good. Tomorrow I
will check all the ECU plugs to see if they are loose.
Good night
squirrel 01-15-2006, 04:02 AM Check the fuses under the dash, if that's not it, check the relays also. Maybe also check all of the wires coming off of the battrey terminals also.
Also check to see if the underdash fuses are in the right slots. I found a fuse in the wrong slot when I checked on my car at the dealership and when I put it in the correct slot everything worked.
squirrel 01-15-2006, 04:10 AM Check to make sure the fuse in the upper left hand corner of the fuse box under the dash is good. If the ECU is properly connected the engine will run, if its not propewrly connected I'm not sure if the engine will run or not.. Sounds like a fuse problem.

yea...definitely sounds like a fuse problem. Baine, do you have an OBD II scanner?? Even though you dont have any gauges or lights on the interior, you still may be throwing CEL's. See if you can get your hands on one if you dont have already. I doubt your gonna throw one that has anything to do with this stuff but its good to know just in case that everything is workin alright under that hood.
Baine 01-15-2006, 11:43 PM Yup, blew the 120 amp fuse to the alternator. It was hidden behind the positive post
on the battery. I replaced it and all is good. It is a very definite kick in the pants
when the boost kicks in.
Thanks for all the support
what a great group we have here
squirrel 01-16-2006, 12:51 AM Baine, COOL! Glad everything is running like its supposed to be now.
YELOSUB 01-16-2006, 05:55 PM Damn Baine, that looks SWHEET...Nice work...
YELOSUB 01-21-2006, 05:04 PM Baine, any updates...More pics of the entire engine bay...Have you had a chance to dyno it yet...I must say, that both yours and hip 2b sqr's look awesome...Very nice detail work...Congrats...
Baine 01-21-2006, 05:58 PM All rainy here in Atlanta today. I will post an assembled
picture soon. I'm waiting for the new clutch to arrive and
can't dyno till then.

Rain? What's that? We desperately need rain here in Az, were coming up on 100 straight days without measurable rain here in the Phoenix/Maricopa County area...Keep us updated!
Baine 01-28-2006, 08:16 PM I picked the car up from the shop today with it's new clutch. Wow, what a difference.
The pedal feels like a real clutch now, not the flaming bag of dog poo that it was. It
grabs a lot earlier now. It will take a little practice feather this clutch smoothly. The
bad news is that I have to behave for 400-500 miles until the clutch breaks in. No
fun of any sort. So I waxed the car and at least it will look good as I drive slowly with
the peasant class.
