I have seen in some posts mention of upgrading the camshaft. So could someone please explain how this mod increases hp (especially low end torque as has been mentioned a few times). I understand the basics of how a camshaft works however I don't know how a modified cam would be different then stock. Will it be stronger and lighter or will the actual timing of the valves be changed to let in more or less air and fuel? I would think that if this was the case that the fuel system would need to be changed as well to maintain a/f ratio etc. Anyway, if some one has the 411 and the inclination I'd appreciate the schoolin. sure you can, but it is still in the works. And you would need a comtroller for the ECU, thats why its still in the works.

you can. you just need to drop the variable valve timing and set-up to run more all motor. it is not worth it unless you are going for big power.

same goes for your post sam, yes, you can disable VVTi, but then it wouldn't be a VVTi engine now would it?

So, lets put aside the VVTI thing for the time being. In general, whether or not its in our engine, what properties are typically modified in an aftermarket camshaft which allow it to deliver more hp?
