Dealer fixed hatch rattle? Am I dreaming?
I exploded in a previous thread due to frustration with the Tc... but after taking my car to the dealer (yet again), they worked on it for a week and a half and when I picked it up, I was surprised that I heard absolutely no noise coming from the hatch. Everytime I drove over a bump, I would prepare myself to cringe... but, nada
Hopefully it stays this way...
Anyways, here's what the service receipt says, as it may help someone out there...
"Adjust rear door testdrove vehicle with customer to duplicate complaint. Heard noise from RH rear area close to wheel well. Remove rear seats, RH uphostery and panels, inspect strut upper mount. OK at this time. Tight rear suspension. Noise still persisted. Use electronic chassi ear and test drove vehicle over rough roads to isolate noise found rear door out of adjustment. Noise was more pronounce in RH 1/4 panel and wheel well; adjust stricker and drove vehicle to confir."

adjusting the latch strike plate is the SAME exact thing that people are doing by putting electrical tape around the striker plate.. it's just taking up the slack.. and some of us used foam tape on the hatch bumper stops to do the same thing too..
yeah easy fix.. it's how they fixed the xB's rear door in a service bulletin, causing the door to shut more tightly when the strike plate was re-adjusted..
good to know.. it's a simple fix..

Yeah, I immediately noticed the trunk was a little bit tougher to close. I used electrical tape before, but that always got warped out of shape after a couple months. I needed something more permanent and not half-assed. If someone else's car doesn't make any rattles and doesn't require any tape, then mine should be like that too.
They didn't provide me with a rental car. Didn't bother me so much since I still have my trusty '95 Civic :p I just wanted this damn noise fixed!

It should, any dealers on here that can tell us the policy?
When I had my supercharger installed and they kept it overnight. The service department said if my saleman would authorize a rental I could have one. But I have another car so didnt need it.
