View Full Version : TRD Supercharger Tamper Proof Cap
Nick06tC 01-13-2006, 10:01 PM Well I searched and couldnt find it...
I have been asking and seen others ask. Does anyone have a picture of the tamper proof cap for the SC?
Nothing is covering my supercharger pulley. I had it installed at the dealer. And I dont see anything to keep me from taking it off.
I want to boost it more. But with a certain problem arising in SL I am considering leaving it as is and waiting to see if more problems happen.
So I want to know what this cap looks like so I know if I have it or not. I want to have it on so that I have no problems if I have engine problems. I am not looking to trick the dealer. I am running stock enigine except exhuast. And I might just stay that way until I see for sure its all good.
I dont think I do, but I am not mechanic.
My engine bay:

What does everyone think? If i dont get it put in and have a problem, will the exif data from this picture prove the cap was never there? Or will they just say I removed the cap and its all my fault?
The problem is, unless I new about this site, I honestly would never know it needed the cap. So if say I wasnt on Scion Life and the engine blew tomorrow, I would show up at scion, and they would say no cap no service. But it wouldnt be my fault.
They would service you, but not under warrenty.
Nick06tC 01-13-2006, 10:30 PM lol yeah they will always service it.
But the warranty isnt my fault. As you can see from the pic, they messed up. Why should I pay the price?
Take it back to the dealer and tell them they missed something...
Nick06tC 01-13-2006, 10:53 PM I am deffinetly considering it. If our engines do have problems that might arise, I cant be out all that money.
(But it would give me an excuse to the wife for going full blown engine rebuild :) )
tc2nut4 01-14-2006, 01:23 AM thats always something fun to do... aside from the money factor...
Nick06tC 01-14-2006, 02:19 PM All the superchargers out there, and no one has a picture?
jwaggz82 01-14-2006, 02:32 PM All the superchargers out there, and no one has a picture?

Does "mine" mean Civic si?
Maybe he let the cat out of the bag...??? Or he will have his new toy to play around with...
Anyhow, does anybody have a picture of this cap?
Tc808 01-14-2006, 08:57 PM Well I was hoping that someone w/ a better camera than mine would post pics of the cap. I don't know whether it's a good thing or not but my dealer did put on the cap when doing the install. Here are two pics:

Yes it does mean Civic Si
jwaggz82 01-14-2006, 09:07 PM good job - i atleast see what it is now. thanks for the picture post.
Nick06tC 01-15-2006, 01:30 AM Yes thank you very much,. I have been asking for a month. Its good to know now. I will be going to ask for my dealer to put one on this week.
I want to turn the boost up, but I cant be worrie by will it hurt the warranty. If I have engine problems I want there to be no doubt whos fault it is.
just grab a larger crank pulley, you will still be able to get 9lbs and not mess with that cap... A lot easier.
Nick06tC 01-15-2006, 01:36 PM yeah but the crank pulleys havent been proven for reliability. Its still a huge debate.
True, but no problems as of yet. They have been out for a while. Nobody currently that I know of makes a larger crank though, maybe NST does...

Yes NST does
Nick06tC 01-15-2006, 05:27 PM Yeah I am not saying they are bad. I just cant afford to gamble. Same with the suppercharger pulley. I think its ok, but i cant take the chance. Not only is it alot of money.
But the wife would kill me if the engine went on a new car.
cryptz 01-15-2006, 10:45 PM i say change the super charger pulley then take it to the dealer and tell them you think they missed something =)
blastedat9 01-16-2006, 04:24 PM i say change the super charger pulley then take it to the dealer and tell them you think they missed something =)
thats what i was thinking... think theyd notice? if not, thatd be awesome. extra boost and an intact warranty.
jwaggz82 01-16-2006, 05:13 PM yea it would be great till something failed and you needed work done - then when they saw a bright purple/blue pully there ....then what do you do?
Nick06tC 01-16-2006, 09:55 PM I have considered this. You can get the same color pulley. But I am not to into tricking my dealer. My morals wont allow it.
