I got a scionlife monthly email that had it...I also talked to a scion rep on the scion.com site and they said it was true... it's a limited run. But owners of xAs aren't eligible (!!! a-holes! lol)

Any idea of who I should talk to about this? Just call up my dealer?

you could ask the dealer..or just call scion to make sure

I just spoke to a Scion representative and they stated it was just for the RS xB.

Mia (from scion.com) told me it was for the xA

got one of em here, black cherry automatic, p9 promotional 6 disc, got it from a dealership to dealership swap.

It's true....all of our xA's in the last shipment had the complimentary 6 disc changer installed...it even says "complimentary 6 disc changer" right on the window sticker. I'd heard rumors they were going to do this to push xA sales before the 2005 models come out...I guess they are.

Pretty sweet deal, but those who already have xA's shouldn't feel shafted.

yup... I really don't _need_ the 6 cd changer because of the mp3 cd capabilities...but it'd be nice to have 72 hours of music at my fingertips :D

I honestly haven't used it or the radio much. All my music is on my iPod and I haven't figured out how to hardwire it to this system.

And, 7 years of no radio in my car kind of made me "zen" about quiet drives.

Toyota decided there were too many xAs still unsold at the ports so they installed them for free on all new incoming units. The dealers are not charged for these. The thing that kills us is that we don't get any credits for the cars we already have on the lot.

Some dealers, like mine, have decided to suck it up and pay for the 6 disc in those as well. Its just to help us move existing inventory.

Put a Ken Style body kit on it and it will sell...!!!...I just got 3rd place Scion street @ Extreme Autofest...lotsa people would come up to me and ask about it if it was stock....The xA is kinda wimpy without it...but with the car built out, it transform to a really sporty tough looking vehicle and should sell itself based on the body kit...That's how longo toyota did it. ...

this reminds me of that story in the bible with the land owner. he hired people in the morning promising them a fair days wage. at noon he hired more people promising them a fair pay for their work. in the afternoon he hired more people and promised them a fair pay for their work. At the end of the day he paid them all the same. the workers complained that they worked more than the other, but they got paid the same. Then the owner said something like, I paid you a fair days pay, If I choose to give them more than that is my business.

I know this is an old thread, but a few weeks ago when I was in the process of test driving xA`s, the automatic one that i was driving came with the free 6 disc player. HOWEVER, I drive manual and it didn`t come with it. I was like wtf. But then I remember when I had my 10 disc for my old car, I was too lazy to change my CDs. So maybe a one disc deal will suit me better.
They coulda at least threw in some free illuminating cup holders since I don`t get the 6 disc.........!

We got it with our xA, we demanded it, you should too, got back to the dealer and talk to the Sales Manager about it, they'll either give it to you OR explain why they can't , then go talk to the GM. If you complain enuff, you end up getting it.

Hell, some of the new 05 xAs have the 6 changer.

The dealer is probably stuck with a manual without a changer and is probably trying to stick you with it (or a dealer in your area).

Just tell them you want it.

If anything, you can rip the 6 out if you are not happy with it, sell it on eBay, then take the cash and buy something else.

It started around the day I posted the info...

Just came from the dealer here in Houston. My rep mentioned that the free 6 cd changer is an incentive for '04 Xa buyers. He checked the '05's if the promo is applicable, unfortunately not. Oh well :( . Now I just have to decide between black sand pearl or silver hehehe.

Toyota realized back in April that there were WAY too many xAs on dealers lots and even more sitting at the ports. They decided to add the free 6 disc to the remaining port stock, but they did not give the dealers credit for any already on the ground. The free 6 disc is only on the ones shipped after the program was announced.

Some dealers (like mine) decided to offer the free 6 disc on all units. In order to do this, we take the hit on the cost of the unit. We must also post this special on our web site to make it available to all customers. We are not required to give them retroactively.

The 2005s obviously don't need incentives yet. They may at some point, but I susupect Toyota will be smarter about the number of these units they bring in this coming year.
