I drove mine in the snow for the first time last night. With my 18's and summer tires on it handled better than I expected.

Glad you are ok.

Yeah, the stock tires on the tC are terrible in the snow. They float on top of the snow and give you absoultly no confidence driving with them. Thats why I purchased blizzak snow tires off of tire rack. I highly suggest this to anyone that drives in snow, you wont regret it.

Jason, see if you can get a set of Nokian Hakkapeliitta RSi's. I've got them on my tC, and it has great traction. I've actually tried to induce oversteer and other handling problems, and I haven't been able to. I thought my Honda Civic was good in the snow; the tC with Hakkas on it is awesome.

I really had no problem in the snow with the stock tires, its the rain that gives me the biggest problems. Like what zer0 said, we really didnt get any snow this year, but I got my car last winter so I drove in the snow we got then. I hope we dont get any more this year here, I hate seeing salt on my car.

I live in the Capital Region of Upstate New York and driving home from work last night in the snow was amazing. Well, I'm used to a RWD Mustang.. the tC was in control 95% of the time.

My Yokohama Parada Spec 2s have been working awesome this winter!

I am in Tucson though. It was 75 and sunny today ;)

Seriously though, i am glad you and your car are OK. It is scary when all of a sudden you find yourself facing the wrong way.

i dont know what could be wrong with my car, tire pressure could be way off maybe?

Another TC, flew right by me, and i was all over the road doing 25-30mph....

2 hours later, Another Silver one, goes past me, lol?

and im a good snow driver, no clue why the car felt so unstabble? and it was great in the snow last month

Wtf

Yeah, but it's the other 5% of the time you need to worry about. That's why I use the best snow tires I can get, so that the tC is never not in control, unless I do something stupid. And with the snow tires I've got, I've actually tried doing some stupid things (in an empty parking lot) and haven't been able to push them to the point of no longer being in control.

Kind of off topic, but it relates to the topic in a way...My Matrix XRS (with potenzas) was GREAT in the snow the first winter we had it. The second winter, on the other hand, was HORRIBLE. Both winters were in Boston area, so it wasn't just a 'little' snow. It would not hold for nothing! We couldn't get out of our driveway a couple times. I think the tires are good when new, but after 10,000+ miles, they tend to drop off pretty quick.

BTW As KrdShrk stated...We too have the Avon Tech M550 A/S...They are Frickin awesome! They are a TireRack exclusive and somewhat new to the states, but are just as good, if not better than the Perelli P-0 Nero's. Check out the rating section on Tirerack.

Wow....

I still don't understand how people can get a front wheel drive car to spin freely.....I guess by hitting the brakes hard enough on a slick surface would induce a spin if the wheel is being turned side to side? Or by jerking the wheel side to side while underway I guess would do it. But, I don't think winter tires are going to help this problem of "spinning." The only thing they are going to do is give better traction while accelerating.

Oh well, glad you're o.k.

Well, I wasn't just refering to the FRONT spinning. The back end came around several times one night in Lowell Mass. It was pretty slick out!
