Default Catback for xB really short?

I saw some pictures of a catback and they look really short....axle back would have been my guess...flared at the cat end.

Also, can you use a header and catback leaving the middle/cat stock??

Thanks!

ok here is the explanation. For our cars NO ONE is making a cat-back because the muffler is welded onto the cat at both ends. The only part of our exhaust that can be bolted on is a different muffler. As for the header, it is a simple bolt-on and it attaches to the first part of "tube" that connects to the resonator which in turn connects to the cat and the you have another little "tube" that connects to the flange of the axle-back.

So to say it more simply:
header - flange - tube - resonator - tube - cat - tube - flange - axle back

At the flnage points is where most of the aftermarket equipment bolts on. So what i did was eliminate the last: tube - flange -axle back section, and replaced it with an aftermarket axle back (InVidia, mad props, very nice) and had my local muffler shop weld a connecting "tube" (2 inches) from my cat to my axle back and eliminated the flange. So you could say my car is a catback and everything after the header and before cat is stock.

My car:
header (DC Sports) - flange - tube - resonator - tube - cat - catback

If you combine this with a nice intake you will have a good HP gain in the whole RPM range.
