Lexus SC 430
This is Toyota's first foray into promoting the Lexus brand in racing in Japan and will no doubt be a major focal point of the company's efforts in building the brand domestically.
Unveiled at the end of November, the SC430 was made public prior to its shakedown at the company's primary testing facility, Fuji Speedway.
The car features a 4,480cc 32-valve DOHC water-cooled V8, producing a rated 480 horsepower at 7,200rpm. With over 52kgs of torque at 5,600rpm, the car has some serious pulling power! On the scales the SC430 checks in at 1,080 kilograms. The car will run with a pair of 29.6mm air restrictors in accordance with SUPER GT Regulations. A six-speed sequential gearbox coupled to a carbon triple-plate clutch gets the power to the wheels, while the double wishbone suspension and ventilated disc brakes keep the car where drivers want it on the track.
Which teams actually get the new car hasn't yet been decided - the only confirmation being that there'll be four Lexus SC430s on the grid when the season gets underway in March.

yeah.. i wouldv'e expected gt300, but "running alongside supras" would mean that it would have to run against all of the other supercars- especially against the ones on the page (like the new maserati mc12, ford gt, and mooncraft shiden). just visually, it doesn't look up to par with the likes of those cars, but we'll see when the season comes around.

Nice evolution of styles.. However I like the lights of this ride a little more.http://www.toyota.com/motorsports/images/grandam/main.jpg
Anyways, I see Toyota is evolving to horizontal lights (with Toyota flavor) instead of vertical ~ Right On!
I just hope they (Toyota) keep in mind that the platform is the KEY for us all.
If it can be achieved in an All~Out~Race~Form via a platform the average consumer can purchase (i.e., Altezza, SC430, Supra, etc...) NO ONE CAN & WILL DENY TOYOTAS' potential.

Addition...4 supras, 4 SC430s. That is for certain.
Not yet determined which teams wil run what. My guess is one of the TOMs teams (or at least one) will stick toyota, as well as team advan tsuchiya and Kraft. Cerumo probably will be one of the teams w/ Lexii.
Pure speculation on my part though, will have to wait till march or a lil bit earlier to find out for sure who is driving what

Would be nice to see this in the SC430 that Lexus actually has on the market. Can do some damage against BMW M6 and Bentley Continental GT. If Lexus ever ended up doing something like that to SC430, I would be the first one to get one thats for sure. One thing hopefully the 2008/09 SC will be similar to the LF-C concept.

I'm really not sure if the SC is going to survive past its current generation. If Lexus releases a $100,000 GT500 then where will that leave room for an $80,000 coupe? I am betting that the new GT is going to be the replacement for the SC.
That being said, it looks fairly good that the GT will be close to the LF-A concept. I want one!

:nails: If they do kill the SC, I just hope to god Lexus does make a small amount of 2+2 GT's.
Plus I read somewhere there suppose to be another SC arriving sometime in 2007 or 2008. *Crosses fingers*
One thing if they do make another SC, I have a feeling its going to have the 4.6L or 5.0L so putting out anywhere from 380 - 420 horsepower. Which will be a nice boost in performance before it goes into history. Finally a stocked Lexus that can go sort of near the magical 4 second mark (rough calculations).
Its nice seeing a car company using less horsepower, yet doing so much with it, not like Mercedes.

Well, the SC430 is hardly a real 2+2. I mean, the back seats are REALLY worthless. The seatbacks are a true 90 degrees and the only way you can even fit a kid back there is to have them lay sideways!
