I'm thinking about buying some 12" ones but I'm stuck between white or red? I REALLY want the red ones but I read a testamonial on their website and someone stated that their "red" is more like pink? If that's the case, I might have to go with white but I think that might be WAYYY too bright inside. Does anyone here have Oznium's red cathodes in their Box and is it really red and if possible can I have a nice clear photo of your interior with them on...Thanks a million...

 

not mine but these are the same cathodes that oznium sells..... they are absolutely identical except the transformer os light blue instead of black and it does not say oznium on it but this guy spent $14 bucks for the same thing
i have white ozniums under my hood.....6 of them.... they are great..... i remember seeing somewhere that the ozniums were the only ones someone found that were not pinkish red

 

I'll say the red CCFL tubes Phil has to offer are red, but they do have a pink color to them. If you are worried that much about making sure they are red and not pink, then I would recommend going with dual 12" red LED tubes instead.

 

One trick to try....get some CLEAR polyurethane from home depot and have them add some red tint to it (its free!) and "paint" the red 'thodes with that. It will give the light a more red look.

 

ive got red ones from oznium sells and they are still alittle pink i havent installed them yet cause im still decideding if i want to go with leds instead

if you compare them to a red l.e.d. they are, granted they are lot more red then some i have seen there still not as red as a red neon or a l.e.d. i just compared both a min ago

 

so would the LEDs be brighter or are the cathodes sufficient...

if your getting blue i would go with cathodes, there so much cheaper and i think there brighter, every color is great with cathodes expect red, the red is getting better but its still a little to pink, id go with cathodes if your gunna do blue

 

how can you go about installing these, i should be expecting my white ones to come in anyday now,

can i just tap into the cubby hole light if i want them to come on with that?

and how do you hook them up to a switch? sorry im a newb when it comes to this stuff.

and should i unhook the battery for this?

yeah bad thing about cathode's is you can't dim 'em with a dimmer switch unlike leds which you can use a dimmer switch

 

You can dim them. What you have to do with CCFLs is increase the resistance in the ground but keep the positive constant. A switched ground if you will. That's how I did it when I had my neon (now the wifes car) so the blue cathodes faded with the dome light. I'm going to do the box up right when I get everything in though, I'm not going to half-**** it like I did when I had my neon.

I disagree. Cathodes can technically be dimmed only with a transformer designed to do so. You should not dim my cathodes. The transformers should not be given much less than 12 volts, or they will be damaged. If you plan to hook them up to a dimming domelight circuit, you should use a relay to isolate the cathodes from dimming.

i got some dual red and they are a red orange color....does anyone know what you have to do to the inverter and light to put them outside of the car? Like underneath and in the engine bay.....the inverter has like holes in them for cooling i think and if you seal them up with silicone or something wouldn't it overheat.

 

Gots to keep out water but can't overheat.....oh what to do.
