EVILDAVE 04-30-2004, 02:52 AM The only thing you can do for torque steer is put a thicker axle on the long side of the trans. I pulls becouse one axle is shorter than the other and the long one will twist and the short one won't. Ryan 04-30-2004, 02:59 AM dunno about you guys but at a wopping 108 hp the torque steer isn't all that great. hell in my old 02 mitsubishi lancer oz rally rated at 130 hp there is little to no torque steer. you wanna talk about torque steer my current ride.. 03 mazdaspeed protege pushing 10 - 13 psi running probably 190 hp maybe more or less you really feel the torque steer through first and second going in a straight line ;). mikochu 04-30-2004, 03:58 AM is torque steer a xB-only problem? I really haven't noticed torque steer in the xA. Also, i heard the xB doesn't steer back to center when you accelerate...my xA does, though.. Also, i heard the xB doesn't steer back to center when you accelerate...my xA does, though.. like i said at 108 hp torque steer is the least of ur worries... trust me... i'll let u guys know on this for sure tho i'll probably go trest drive both the xa and xb tomorrow since its my day off FINALLY! eric_m 04-30-2004, 04:26 AM hold the wheel with both hands when you accelerate. leaning over so your head is between the two front seats and leaning back so that you can see out the back window and holding on to the top of the wheel with part of your left hand probably isn't the best way to get a good grip on the wheel. if you're holding the wheel tight and straight and the car cranks off in one direction, i don't know. my car doesn't do that. and i have the SPFR intake! respect the mad powaaa!!! Turbo + FWD = Torque Steer. Trust me, I know. :D How are you pushing 10-13 psi? Chip? Manual Boost Controller? I'm pretty sure stock MSP's aren't pushing 10+ psi. Andrew kwicslvr 04-30-2004, 01:42 PM anyone know how to compensate for madd torque steer? This is your first car isn't it? The xB does not produce enough power in stock trim to make enough torque steer to make it noticeable. Try a Grand Prix GTP putting out over 500whp and over 500 TQ. That, is mad TQ steer! Reno 04-30-2004, 03:16 PM I haven't had a problem with TS, but maybe that is because it is an automatic. I will have to see how it compares to a manual when I get the new one in June. Andrew not stock.. :) basically b4 i blew my first motor i was pushing 15 lb's daily and blew it going to nopi when i jacked it to 18 lb's it'll hold 15lb on a hot day and 10-13 on cold days.. without popping. they run 7lb's stock most ppl with a msp run a safe level of 10lb daily.. and 13 at the track.. i ran 15 daily on my new motor i run 12 daily... im using a electronic boost controller btw.. and u are not fairly sure if you want the scoop search it msprotege.com lots of ppl on there are boosting 10+ :) ps... i'd have to be upwards of 190 if not 200 when i was boosting 15 lb's daily becuz i would hold right along side an srt-4 until about 132 which is the speed cutoff on the msprotege, then the srt flies by doing upwards of 140 lol. |
