Has anyone done any door mods to their xB? Any pics? Does anyone know if there is a kit out to do door mods or does one have to be custom made?

A local shop here is Annapolis is installing a set this week :D . I will snap some pics and post them asap.

I remember the lambo scion, not much room for a big guy like me. And I wasn't too impressed on how the fender had to be flared like that.

lambo-style hinges are pretty common nowadays. Get suicides. They've been out for 50 years, and still haven't fully caught on.

They have caught on .. its just alot harder to do becasue you have to move everything. Hings have to go to the other side and the door lock has to go to the other side and also alot of doors CANT open suicide because of the way the body is desgined ... I think the rear doors suicide and the front lambo would be pimp ...

No they haven't caught on. Go to Nopi Nationals and compare people with lambo-style hinges to those with suicides. About 30 to 1 i'm guessing.

my impression of the vertical door system is that it is crap. it never always room for people to enter. sure it is bolt on, but you end up with no room.

How about something completely new? Instead of trying to make our boxes work like an Italian sports car, why not examine the problem with the current doors and then make the doors better?

The biggest problem with the current doors is that they swing outward and can hit other cars.

One solution to this is to make the doors pop out and slide back, like the sliding doors on a minivan. The tracks would be a challenge, as there isn't much car behind the rear doors. Some sort of telescoping track is indicated.

Another, more radical, approach is to have the doors pop out and slide or pivot straight upward on tracks or struts, remaining upright the whole time. This would be very cool and, for sponsored show cars, would put the sponsor's advertisment well above head level for all the crowd to see!

I think that either of these approaches would work well if the front and rear doors were joined as a unit. The second one sounds the more interesting of the two, and would work a heck of a lot better than lambo doors!

I think that is Darrel's car. He's the prez of TSW. I was hoping the doors would go up higher as there wasn't much room. I wasn't a big fan of the blending that was going to be required on the bulge on the fender for the hinge to clear.

Has anyone seen it finished? I haven't seen anything, and the TSW forum is locked, so there goes asking any questions to TSW direct. Ya I know I could always PM, but if I have the question, I know others will to.

I have yet to see a SINGLE tuned car with removable doors like a jeep. It would be sick. :D

I mean, don't get me wrong, my dad drove a CJ5 when I was smaller. I loved that jeep. I just think any vehicles other than jeeps and hummers that have removable/canvas doors look cheap...

Yeah, this is my opinion, say please don';t shoot me. I like the car, but the area above the license plate should be smooth all the way across. The two recessed areas above and to the left and right of the license plate detracts from the look. Those doors are pretty sweet.

I guess JT Auto Style is the place to get the lambo doors ... I am gonna call them on Monday and get prices and avalibality on the kit.

ohh mayn.. the lambo doors look really sweet, but that kit has got to go!!! I met the guy at a local charity car show in LB. He's apart of team cypher i believe. they're pretty coo, and i guess now all their cars have lambo doors.

That kit uses the factory fenders with minimal mods. You have to get rid of the side marker light in order to use it. Definately opens wider then mine. Pricing is great on the kit too.

I spoke to JT Auto Style:

The kit will be ready for shipping out in 2 weeks. Cost is $1,000. The guy said that for the kit to work perfect and the doors to go all the way up the fenders NEED to be shaved a little or the kit will not work right. The doors will open but will not go all the way up with out a little shave!

Also he said if you live buy them they will install the kit for free (not includeing the fender shaving)

I've seen suicide doors with lambos and the flow doesn't seem right. Has anyone thought of doing lambos that open up opposite of each other on one side, kinda like a swiss army knife would open up? Don't know if I'm explaining it clear enough - help. I'm sure someone gets what I'm saying and can explain it better.
