Some people have done it.

A search for "Mac Mini" yielded the following results, and some others. The first thread is probably the best lead.

You'd be better off with one of these:

http://minipc.aopen.com/Global/product.htm

It's considerably easier to produce a car-appropriate interface on Windows or x86 Linux then Mac, as there is substantially more support, both in interface development, but driver support (for GPS, ODB Connectors, etc.)

Well, I'm sure Apple will eventually put a decent Intel chip in a Mini box, in the meantime...

... I know a lot of ____ed-off Mac owners, wanting to know why the new boxes are 4x as fast for the same price they just paid for a PowerPC chip Mac?!?

Why would you rather have a mac, out of curiosity. There's only like one front end for a mac car pc and I believe it sucks.

I love the dock. I love my power book over my hp laptop and front row is so simple. I also like the fact that I have no bugs or viruses. I also like the fact that I get tones of free apps. I also love the look of my power book over my hp.

XB_BOB: Like I said:

As I'm sure you know, the Intel CoreDuo is only available in iMacs & MacBooks. No desktops, no Minis. Yet.

So, if you want the 'Mini' form factor with the CPU that Apple claims is 4x faster than the G5, you'll have to buy a PC, like the Aopen I described above.

Don't interpret my statements as a chronic dislike of apple hardware - I just want speed & choice. The Mac Mini gives me less of both than a similar form-factored PC. As far as software goes, I prefer linux, on a Mac or a PC!

Uhhh .... last time I checked iMacs were considered a desktop .... isn't that opposite of Laptop?? iMac's would be kinda heavy as a laptop, plus you'd need a battery! ;)

i'd love to add a Mini to my home , as well as my car!

There is a great interface for the mini to be put in cars. It is expensive tho. But it comes with a touch screen....... http://minidock.jp/en/index.html
