axle back and cat back....please help
What's the differance between cat back and axle back exhaust? I have looked at many different post and I've asked my friends and I am still unclear. From what I have gathered the axle back isn't the way to go. I believe the cat back is longer or there is more material and it is better. Can someone please share with me the differances between them, I want the most power possible and also I don't want loud exhaust. The only mod I have done thus far is I've added an Injen Short Ram Cold Air Intake, Ground Wire Kit. Any help would be apreciated...
i think cat back replaces the catalytic converter.
axleback only replaces stuff after the catalytic converter.
from what I can gather, the whole point of intake -> header -> exhaust is to eliminate bottlenecks. so if you only get axleback, you will still have the catalytic converter as a bottleneck.

Thanks for the reply I appreciate you getting back to me.
So the cat back will bolt onto the exisiting catalytic converter or does it replace it all together. If it does not bolt onto it and it does indeed replace it will the exhaust company have a catalytic converter built into their exhaust system? I live in California and exhaust is a big issue when it comes time to smog the car so I must use a catalytic converter regardless of the performace I may lose. It would make sense for the companies to include a low restricting catalytic converter with their exhaust system.
Thank you again for your help with this.

actually cat back is what is sez from the cat back..and axle back is what is sez from the axle back.....nominal differance in performance gain between the two...full exhaust would change out or replace the cats
Catback = From the Catalytic Convert back without replacing the cat.
Axelback = From roughtly the axel and back.
Catback exhaust will be louder but provide more power with the right setup. The best I've seen is 2.25" catback with a good sized sonic resonator to keep the volume down. I like a nice sounding exhaust... but it's gotta be very low tone... not some happy ____ **** fart cannon.

It sounds like what I would be looking for is a cat back...
Thanks again for the assistance...
