That doesn't mean I won't eventually get a ding anyway... guyfrosty 01-24-2006, 04:14 PM If you want to prevent your nice smooth XB door from getting dings without worrying about hanging some ugly thing on the side of your box, check these out: http://www.dawn-ent.com/molding/pntmld.htm I bought a set of these moldings for my Polar White XB and they match the factory color perfectly. I think they can make them in other Scion colors as well. bassist1217 01-24-2006, 08:05 PM some rules i like to live by: 1. never, EVER park beside a minivan. 2. don't park beside anything that looks like it may be a piece of crap or something the owner doesn't care about 3. don't park beside the redneck mobiles 4. don't park beside anything that may by any chance be hauling kids. 5. don't park in the space between the 2 biggest SUVs in the parking lot (something my girlfriend does) 6. walking is not bad for you. try to park beside people with super clean nice cars that obviously care about their car, or one like yours. (i always try to find a mustang since i drive a mustang). this is, of course if i can't park on my own a little farther away. TheScionicMan 01-24-2006, 08:21 PM I disagree with the minivan thing, most have sliding doors. And just because someone has an expesive car doesn't mean they care about it. It often means they just have more disposable income so the car's value doesn't always mean they care more about it. Another thing to watch out for is that 2 door cars usually have longer doors than 4 doors. I try to park next to a curb on one side if possible and hug the line away from other cars. Diagonal parking spots will usually give you more room and will often put the other cars doors ahead of or behind you. Also, don't forget that you have some room to work with as far as how far you pull into the spot. Sometimes it works better to stay back from the end, sometimes works to pull up closer. {knocking on wood} In 2 years time, I've only had one door ding and it was from my own carelessness when I opened the door into a lamppost. Being careful pays off. I drive past probably a dozen empty spots every morning to park at the end of the row where I can get away from the dividing line. It's worth it, IMO. DodgerGirl 01-24-2006, 09:05 PM 7. Don't park near 2 door cars (as stated above ^^^^) 8. Don't park next to a car with a car seat (usually the doors are swung wide open to get the kid in) BTW I always try to park further (I don't mind the walk), yet some MF always parks next to me... go fig! Try to park near an island, so only 1 car can park next to you. suspended 01-24-2006, 09:13 PM i have a phobia of other cars, don't care how far i have to walk, but stay away from other cars ;-) bassist1217 01-24-2006, 10:57 PM i have a phobia of other cars, don't care how far i have to walk, but stay away from other cars ;-)x2 FuryKa 01-24-2006, 11:28 PM There are black strips that you can get to put on the side of your car that helps. We had a guy that bought the RS 2.0 xB and he put the strips on. They are basically black molding pieces that stick out more. It made it look sort of like a bumble bee but they don't look too bad. There is a place that the dealership uses called Trim Doctor but I am sure there is something in your local town. If you go to your local dealership or even just look in the yellow pages for car accessorie places they should be able to find something. Next time he comes in for service I will try to get a pick. 2tone_xB 01-25-2006, 12:05 AM yeah, just depends where/how you park. i bought those side things when i first got my ride, when i finally took them off...had scratches up the butt hole.
