View Full Version : 3rd Brake Light Overlay
CamoxBInSC 04-30-2004, 10:26 PM OK time for a dumb question. I bought a 3rd Brake Light overlay from Randode Racing. Well I think I am the stupidest person but where does it go, on the window or on the red lense over the brake light? Please someone help. The easiest Mod in the world and I am lost, I wonder what will happen when i get up to bigger mods.
xtremeOrange 04-30-2004, 10:46 PM One would assume that sticking it on the window would lead to tears and cuts from debris as well as punks/vandals.....It's location is right there in the name - brake light overlay. Not rear window overlay. Geez

i'd say it goes over the red lens..just 'coz i think it would look awkward if u apply it on the outside window...but then again I haven't seen it so you're best bet would be to PM randode...
PEACE
TheScionicMan 05-02-2004, 12:55 AM Don't feel bad, I had the same question.
The surface of the brakelight is ridged and the thing wouldn't stick right, IMO. I've also read where Randode mentioned that they were just an overlay so if a cop was going to write you up, you could just peel it off and then order another one later so I got the impression it was for the outside of the glass...
I didn't want to stick it on the outside and get more washmitt lint. I took off my brake light and stuck it on the inside of the glass and put the brake light back on. My design, however is the same forwards or backwards so it wasn't an issue. I'll post pics soon.
:D
xBassist 05-02-2004, 01:51 AM I got my bB overlay on monday... Installed in 5 min, looks great.... Just stick it to the rigid brake light surface... Don't try to stick it in every little ridge, just stick it over the thing and put it back together...

Exactly...you just sorta have to stick it in place and then put the light back on. I haven't had any problems with mine yet. I got the SCION overlay, it's cool but part of the "S" and "N" only show up really good at night. I'll try to take pics tonight, when the sun sets a little.

pileofmonkeycrap 10-11-2005, 01:03 AM Reviving this thread because I'm trying to figure out how to remove the 3rd brake light cover without breaking it.
How does it come off?
Thanks.
Sciond 10-11-2005, 01:22 AM good question I just ordered mine......
Bgnome 10-11-2005, 01:58 AM the cover just pops off.
pileofmonkeycrap 10-12-2005, 06:03 PM Thanks. Got it to come right off. Just was leary of pulling too hard and breaking something.
Chillaxin206 10-12-2005, 07:24 PM where did you oder yours from?
pileofmonkeycrap 10-12-2005, 07:38 PM I bought a custom overlay from Randode.
hotbox05 10-12-2005, 07:51 PM i put mine over the rear light lens.
SuperToaster 10-13-2005, 12:19 AM Super easy just be careful taking that thing off. When it pops off you will think you broke it. I used a fine pointed pokey tool to help lay the graphic in place as I pulled the outer coating off.......

I_dont_know 10-13-2005, 03:33 AM ha, pokey tool. . . i like that.
But i had a question TheScionicMan said somethin about a cop writin you up. they can do that? not tryin to make a smart @ss comment or anything, i really didnt know that.
firesquare 10-13-2005, 04:02 AM they can write you up. depending on your local laws and regulations.
heres a general statement i can rely on.
your brake lights must work. left right and center.
the lights cannot be obstructed or covered to impare vision of the light.
i would fail a car if it came in for inspection with some type of cover on it. but it depends on the town or area your in. Id check your local officials
jaimecosio 10-13-2005, 01:25 PM i just finish design mine i going to install it tomorrow
